How many hours a day do you work?

my clients have no issues with calling me at stupid o'clock on a daily basis for on-site support. With that said, it's fine with me as it means a 24/7 After-Hours surcharge.

regardless to what time of day/night my clients call i will never charge a out of hours surcharge as hosting requires 24/7/365 support

I may work/at PC 8am to 11pm GMT but other times zones are different, so my sleep time could be mid morning for some clients.

Did you miss the 'on-site' part of that? I have IT maintenance contracts with local businesses and provide 24/7 support on-call to both commercial and residential alike. Some have guaranteed response times for both first contact and time-on-site as well.

so if you have a 24/7 support on-call contracts with clients then surely their contracts would be for you to provide 24/7 support on-call service, so the contract price should cover call outs day or night.

A little slow on the uptake are we? Obviously, terms vary from contract-to-contract, and not everybody even has a contract to begin with.

you are the one who mentioned contracts

which if i had a contract i would make sure it covered any on site support i would need during the contract period.

At least 10 hours, 12 if it is an iffy day and longer when things go crazy. We have a few clients that end up being targets when it comes to the time of year for all the con's going on. I think some of them intentionally provoke people to attack their sites so we do stay busy but I never mind, unless of course someone does not refill the coffee bin. Then someone is asking to get smacked in the office.

I found this thread really amuzing and made me thing for a second how many hours i work :(.

In this young age i feel like i have been missing out on all the parties i could be attenting.

Well i say i work more than 70+ hours a week, both for my project and also for my personal work .

I'm an IT Specialist and Junior DBA for eLeadCRM (automotive CRM) - I diagnose computer/crm issues for car dealerships and run queries within the SQL database to narrow down and resolve level 2/3 tickets. I also run my own hosting company on the side which seems to be bringing in a little extra income. :shh:

So what you are saying is that you work 24 hours a day? :)

I would have to admit, I get grouchy with going days without sleep, or little sleep for that matter. Typically, I would say I put in 50 or so hours a week, but I always enjoy rewarding myself with family trips down to Mexico a few times a year.

What can I say, we're in a 24 hour, 7 days a week business! ;)
