What Do You Use? FTP or File Manager?

I use both - File Manager in cPanel for uploading my webpages and testing them on the world wide web and FileZilla (FTP) for uploading much larger files. If I have to choose between the two, I'd rather select FileZilla over cPanel's File Manager because the former is free to download while the latter is not.

I use FTP, that more simple than using control panel

In some cases is better to use File Manager.
For example, is more effective in applying permissions to files. Sometimes ftp don't apply or give you error while applying them.

But, if you are looking to upload lot of files, then I would go by ftp for simplicity.,

I use FTP when I get into deep work on my site(s)... and I use File Manager whenever I need to do something really quick, since its way faster to handle.

FTP most of the time. The only time I use File Manager is when I need to make a quick edit on the files.

and I love FlashFXP. Not free though.

Hello Friends....

I use both.An FTP Client is useful when uploading a large number of files. Also, it is the most suitable application for uploading files with size of several Megabytes and more.

2.The File Manager is available through your Control Panel. It is extremely useful to manage the folder structure of your web space, upload a smaller number of files, or edit them directly on the server.

Thanks

I use WS FTP Pro

But the file manager in cpanel is good enough for most people.

For windows hosting windows explorer works fine too for those that don't want to spend the extra money for a good FTP application.

I've personally used the file manager in cpanel several times especially when testing customers permissions or checking code in a paticular page. It's faster than setting up an ftp client but for large uploads or uploads with mulitple files its better to use an ftp client.

When there is hell load of files to be transferred, copy pasted, moved from server to local directory etc. the best is to use a FTP client. Especially for mac users, it comes handy in dragging the files and pushing into the client and easily get things done.

For simpler file transfers etc. we can use the file manager through cPanel when we don't feel the necessity to use the whole FTP application for a small file transfer.

I'm personally not a fan of the filemanagers that come with cpanel.

FTP is pretty good except that you pass your login details and what your transferring over clear text (which has potential to cause security problems).

I personally offer and like to use SFTP. Which is FTP over SSH. SSH encrypts the tunnel that your data goes through, and your password / login info is secure.

SFTP vs FTP looks exactly the same to the client, minus the different port number to use.

Recap: Use SFTP if it's available, I think it's just easier to navigate and is secure.
