Softaculous or Installatron

Softaculous of course,we are softaculous NOC partners and we use that software from his starts free period.

softaculous you will notice has more installers, this is because they also include installers for applications that are commercial and will cost you or your user money in the end.
Take these away and Installatron matches them.
We use Installatron and over the years they have earned my loyalty.

I have noticed that MOST hosting companies give you Fantastico, Softaculous AND Installatron.

Honestly, that is SOOOOOOO confusing to customers!

Softaculous all the way! Don't worry about overpriced Fantastico and redundant, non-friendly Installatron.

Softaculous is the way to go! You only keep one of these, do NOT do 2 or all 3, it's pointless and you will only waste your money and confuse your customers!

This is what i cant understand as what are included in Fantastico and Installatron is available in Softaculous along with an extra 100+ scripts

I have Installatron on one of the servers for my shared hosting customers. To be honest I have not seen anyone using it. They all use Softaculous and I don't see where Installatron has anything over on Softaculous that makes anyone want to use it instead.

I know for years if you were using Direct Admin then Installatron was the only script auto installer available, but now Softaculous seems to be the number 1 choice

Our company for using Fantastico for all the servers for 6 years, but this summer we decided to switch all our servers to Softaculous and I must say that it is not worse than Fantastico at all.

Below you can see the list of prices for the licenses:

To install Softaculous on the server , follow the instructions:

cd /usr/local/cpanel/whostmgr/docroot/cgi
wget -N http://www.softaculous.com/ins/addon_softaculous.php

chmod 755 addon_softaculous.php

Now go to :
WHM > Plugins (Add-Ons on older versions than 11) > Softaculous - Instant Installs
The following webpage will open if the installation was successful:

Command Line Install Option

You can run the following commands to install Softaculous on cPanel without having to visit cPanel/WHM :

cd /usr/local/cpanel/whostmgr/docroot/cgi
wget -N http://www.softaculous.com/ins/addon_softaculous.php
chmod 755 addon_softaculous.php

/usr/local/cpanel/3rdparty/bin/php /usr/local/cpanel/whostmgr/docroot/cgi/addon_softaculous.php

Thats it the installation of Softaculous is completed without having to visit WHM.

I stand corrected.

I got a new signup from Poland and they used installatron to install Wordpress. So now it is Installatron =1 and Softaculous for everyone else.

Well I will say I was a little impressed with Installatron now that I gave it a second glance.

It has the feature of being able to clone a site and even the ability to customize the email it sends to the end user for branding.

I also noticed that it has the ability to allow you to do automatic upgrades of scripts. Not a good idea all the time I know, but it can be handy for those clients that haven't a clue on how to administer the site and even less of an idea on how to upgrade it.

I dont see what just paying an extra $25 a year for Installatron when I have Softaculous costing only $12 a year and has the same scripts that Installatron has + another 190

Another vote for Softaculous. I may not personally ever use the extra billion scripts they add over Fantastico, but it's nice to know they're there and I'm sure some client somewhere will make use of them.
