Softaculous or Installatron

I guess the bigger issue is people upgrading their installations to avoid a exploit =\

In theory yes, but have you tried to get client upgrade to avoid exploits.
Softaculous has a great feature to email any user with outdated scripts, but this does not mean the cliuent with uopdate as most have a "if its not broke dont fix it" mentality

Softaculous is the best. They keep adding features. I have been doing reseller hosting and I love it better than Installatron and Fantastico

Softaculous is awesome. It has more scripts than both Fantastico and Installatron. One thing that is cool with Installatron though, is that you can automate the setup for script installation via WHMCS. I haven't seen any module that could do the same for Fantastico or Softaculous. Fantastico is pretty common, and very basic. It's perfect for user-friendly web hosting.

Back in the day it used to be installatron, fantastico etc, then softaculous came a long and smashed them to the ground :)

I wonder whats next.

We can always expect something new to come along, but for now Softaculous is the way to go. They offer more scripts and are updated frequently.

Exactly! In this industry you can't afford to wait months for your scripts to be updated, specially if it's by a third party application that you have no control of.. Fantastico was the leading standard for years, but because they didn't update often or added new scripts, they slowly went downhill when something better came along (as one is to expect).. Softaculous on the other hand, has fixed the 2 biggest issues with Fantastico. They add new scripts regularly and keep them updated!

also Softaculous is half the price of Fantastico

Installatron has a bad habit of leaving defaults on some apps, which makes them vulnerable to exploits. For example, renaming the admin username, db tables, db name, etc. I don't like auto-installers in general, because even Softaculous drops the ball on some of these. But it is the best of the lot.

Hi,

I am from the Softaculous team. I would like to point that we do have the setup for auto installation of scripts via WHMCS :
http://softaculous.com/docs/WHMCS_Auto_Install_Module

In fact, we were the first ones to launch such module :)

I agree with handsonhosting, both installatron and fanastico don't seem to want to stay up to date!

Softaculous is also great at listening to their customers for feature requests and new scripts!

Softaculous is a great price too and they have a free development AMP stack for windows with "softaculous" built in for free. It's a great selling point. Develop at home, install on web, import database etc...

The Softaculous is really good as compare to the installeron/fantastico as its not only providing all the third party scripts but also its secure and updated version, you can easily install/uninstall and backup the scripts

Softaculous is payable where as Fantastico is free with cpanel installation so I will prefer to use fantastico only.

Softaculous for sure, I've used a few and the Soft has the most features and their presentation and delivery is very simple and direct for the customers. Pricing isn't too bad either so that's a plus +
