Saudi enterprises have spent years running the same dilemma: modernize with the cloud, or keep control over where data actually lives. Nutanix and Google Cloud are betting they’ve found a way to stop forcing that choice. The two companies announced that Nutanix Cloud Clusters, known as NC2, is now available in Google Cloud’s Dammam region, part of a broader collaboration unveiled at LEAP Saudi Arabia.
The practical effect is straightforward. Organizations running Nutanix on-premises can now extend those same environments directly into Google Cloud without rebuilding applications from scratch. That matters for companies trying to migrate workloads, set up disaster recovery, or handle sudden capacity spikes while keeping the same operating model they already use internally.
Saudi Arabia‘s push toward Vision 2030 has pushed many organizations toward hybrid cloud strategies specifically because they need to balance innovation with data residency requirements and operational consistency. Having NC2 available locally in Dammam lets companies keep workloads physically closer to their users while still tapping into Google Cloud’s broader infrastructure and AI capabilities, addressing regulatory requirements that a fully public cloud deployment sometimes can’t satisfy on its own.
Talal Alsaif, Nutanix’s regional director for Saudi Arabia, framed the launch around what customers in the region have been asking for: more flexibility in how they deploy and manage applications across hybrid environments. He described the Dammam expansion as giving organizations across the Kingdom and wider Middle East access to a consistent platform that simplifies operations while still supporting faster innovation.
The migration path itself is designed to minimize disruption. Companies can move applications between on-premises Nutanix systems and Google Cloud while keeping the same management tools, security policies, and operational model on both sides, removing much of the cost and complexity that normally comes with refactoring enterprise applications just to get them cloud-ready.
Once workloads run on NC2 in Dammam, organizations also gain more direct access to Google Cloud’s AI, machine learning, and data analytics services, letting them experiment with newer capabilities without abandoning the infrastructure and processes they already rely on. NC2 on Google Cloud in the Dammam region is available immediately through Nutanix and its channel partners.
