Your thoughts on .com or .net or?

.coms are much more valuable but if you have the chance to obtain other domain extensions such as the .net and .org then go for it as you may be able to sell them in a package, or maybe the person that buys the .com may be interested in buying the other extensions later. This will give you a chance to make double or more sales.

I would say buy all of them as well so you can redirect people to your .com if they happen to use the wrong ending. Also, as others have said, to protect your brand, as I am dealing with this now.

I think it might be a good idea if I were able to purchase other extensions as well however I think I would find myself spending way too much money if I were to do that. I will certainly take that into consideration when planning my next budget though. Thanks again guys!

I would definitely go for a .com domain name. I just feel that the .com domain name would be more presentable due to commonly been use. I have register one of the .com earlier. Considering about register another .com domain name for my other site

I agree with you louis87, I rather stick to .com than .net or .org, because it feels more comfortable when you have a name in the site which is .com.

Hi !

This is a very interesting question.
I think .com is the best option and it is best for business.
I agree with steve too. The .com has proved to be the best so far and i don't see it losing its position at all.
Thanks for sharing.

.com is the only way to go

We are a domain registrar & .com is the only way to go!

.com are spidered 1st and show up better on search engines.

I agree with everyone that .com is better for business purposes, however if you find a one word dictionary term that has a .ws or .net extension you may want to grab it. :)

I have about 80 domains personally (Sold off about half of the ones I had) but most of mine are .com and a few .net/.ws

I think that .com is the best call. People think of .com when they type things in and only use .net or .org if they've been told already. I think that if you can afford to get several, than, why not get them all. But for starters, definitely just get .com

I'm sticking to .com since this extension is used worldwide. There wouldn't be any hassle memorizing a link to be typed in the URL browser if the site has a .com extension. If the page I'm looking for ends in other extensions, sometimes it can't be accessed - based on my experience browsing site links that are difficult to remember when I have no idea what extension it is using.

Stick with .com. If you can't because the niche is much too competitive and saturated, .net and .org are good too but 5 - 10 times inferior to the same .com.

Some names are born better with .org though.

It also depends on the niche and target audience. For example I don't see any problems with webmastertools.net as webmasters generally speaking have no problems remembering .net. If I owned the .com version of this name I would definitely redirect it to .net. But of course in most cases .com is the way to go.

It depends on your purpose of hosting a website. Normally user will most likely stick to .com domain name. However, you could also use the .net for networking sites and .org for organization sites. Especially .org sites are very identical for organization usage.

Yeah, .com is more popular and usually, it's the one that sticks in the minds of the people. .net is quite popular too though.
