Would you choose cheap hosting company or are you willing to pay more ?

@Collabra, that's not far wrong. If customers pay more, then the host doesn't have to put as many customers on a server to make the level of profit they need to pay for staff & systems.

Most dirt cheap hosts don't have the same licencing bills (servers, litespeed, cloudlinux, backup and the list goes on) or if they do, they oversell (as in unreliable) their systems.

It's pretty much the quality over quantity theme. :)

True and in fact if you constantly get support requests from all your client then the service of your product needs to be checked. You are doing something wrong and need to fix your mess. Its not the clients its you that needs fixing.

where did i say ALL clients. you will always get inexperienced clients contact you many times over minor issues that 9/10 they have caused themselves through lack of experience, it is how you handle and offer support.

don't forget that at some point we were all inexperienced

Am sorry That you was not in reference to you as a person BUT the second dictionary meaning of you - used to refer to any person or to people in general

Thanks Terry for pointing out that were not expensive ;-)
but as far as I can see we're quite comparable on price.

At least neither of us are selling any unlimited plans!!!

Actually Terry does sell unlimited plans. He just sells them on other sites he owns while bashing them here. I've attached a screenshot of one of his plans

This is not the first time you accuse this member of that. Please provide evidence, beyond what was already shown and explained here and here by that member. Please do so in private, as to not take this thread off its course anymore.

Further argument about this particular issue is no longer allowed in this thread and infractions will be issued. All communication to be done through me only.

This depends on the companies expenses and overhead. There are businesses out there that operate at minimal cost to offer you lower prices. They also offer you Support although this is outsourced in order to lower your cost and overhead.

The decision is yours!

Thank you.

This is true. However, the price does not force the provider to stop provisioning sites at that point. The assumption in this thread is that higher price = better performance. However this provider may still fill the server with the same number of sites regardless of price thereby negating the performance increase you are predicting.

Thus, that assumption is false. And in those cases where that may be factually true, it could be irrelevant for a particular web site in question depending on the resources required by the site and popularity of the site.

In most cases a site suitable for a shared hosting environment requires a miniscule amount of server resources. Configuring your server and plans for larger requirements and pricing them higher is not necessarily in the best interest of those websites' owners.

if you list on your site

plan 1

1GB space
10GB bandwidth
3 email accounts
1 FTP account
2 databases
$4

plan 2

10GB space
30GB bandwidth
7 email accounts
4 FTP account
5 databases
$12

If a client goes onto your site and chooses plan 2, but their site only uses

200MB space
bandwidth
1 email accounts
1 FTP account
1 databases

it is their chose they went for plan 2 when plan 1 would suit them, as some will look into the future and purchase to plan ahead.

It is different if you get a live chat or ticket enquiry to what plan may be suitable as then you can ask them about the site they want to host and if its migrating from another host ask the URL so you can look over the actual site.

I recently asked a client if he wanted to downsize as the plan he purchased, he was only using approx. 1/4 of the resources, but he declined saying he ordered the larger plan as he was thinking ahead.
So you may think that the client is on the wrong plan as all resources are not being used, but the client has been thinking about the future of his site.

Hi Guys,

Would you choose cheap hosting company or are you willing to pay more for web hosting.

Do you think that hosting prices are a sign of trust ? :rolleyes2
Hi there,

To provide high quality services you need to have a good support team and high performance equipment and this means extra costs, however high prices don't always mean high quality. Therefore, when choosing a hosting provider you have to do a research: what others say about their services, their support and after make a choice. Even so, the best way to find if a hosting provider is good for your needs, is for you to test the services directly.

Usually I buy cheap hosting, but they are reliable. For a good hosting I can spend from $5 to $10. This, for small-new websites.

If sites grow, then usually I upgrade to a better service, like a VPS.

In my opinion, it depends on my needs, budget and number of visitors. Obviously, I never stay with a bad hosting, also if it's really cheap. Price shouldn't be the main decision factor when you chose a web hosting.

reach out info regarding the company

I would suggest you to look and read some info regarding the company on the web. try to find who are their clients, via this info you will get a clear POV on the company,
regarding the price it is all about what kind of profit percentage the coampny seek to earn, cheep comapny or they work on Mass or normaly they are reseller which means thy dont own the infrastructure, your call :-)

As a client you would not know what profit margins a company is working too.

does not say they are cheap they are resellers, you can get a server for less than $10 and even adding cpanel $15. so up and running with your own server with less that $25, so you could sell $1 and still make a profit if you get enough clients

trusting on the high rate hosting providers is very bad opinion or decision. i'll always try to go with some middle range hosting providers as they do give best of their hosting services.
