Vista home edition performance is quite slow compared to pro.

I hate Vista but I can't say really why I hate it so much. It is just slow, full of things that I don't need and so on. I use it right now only because I am too lazy to install XP or 7.

Actually I am in the same shoes as you, except that I do not hate Vista at all. In fact, I like it a lot more than XP. Not sure if it is because I am experiencing it on a new laptop with 2GB RAM, but I like the visuals.

The question I have is: if I were to upgrade to Windows 7 from Vista, I heard that: (a) Vista requires/consumes less RAM, and (b) will upgrading to Win 7 increase the battery life of a laptop?
