Windows or Linux

Both the hosting have their advantages. Linux is more secure and reliable in my opinion.. Windows has native support for .net and the GUI is also a plus for beginners.

It is not something we can compare at the way which is better,we can only compare it when it comes certain task and usage, but generaly linux is better for most tasks but Windows has some adventage also and that is why I said we can't compare it generaly because in different situation we will have different result

Windows and Linux can not be compared with each other as both has certain merits and demerits over each other.

Choosing of particular operating system between two is depends upon your application.

As others have said Linux is more secure and reliable. It does however depend on your requirements and which one would be better suited for you.

Choosing between Linux & Windows actually depends on your programming and application requirements. Windows Hosting is suitable for applications developed using technologies such as ASP.NET and ColdFusion. Linux Hosting is suitable for applications developed using languages such as PHP, Perl, Python and JSP. However most programming languages are supported on Windows OS but the performance of PHP and Perl has been proved to be ideal on Linux environment.

Well, it all depends on the applications/scripts you wish to use, both the Operating Systems are best for their users, it may have some difficulties to their admins :)

Linux is the way to go. With the explosion in GUI development, we utilize Linux for our servers and Desktops. While there are some uses for windows such as asp.net hosting(poor to begin with), there is a steady decline in its use. Linux all the way! :)

Completely depends on your business priority & your developer mindset!
If time is important,go with the one which you are comfortable.
Otherwise with Linux one can go as far as one needs :)

On another note, not to mention the wide variety of distros designed and tweaked for certain tasks such as ubuntu for ruby development, fedora for an easy to use home browsing experience and slackware for the ability to pick and choose what you want on your system.

Linux hosting. Because Linux is an open source system and is therefore more cost-effective to operate and maintain than Windows, Linux runs most processes faster than Windows. Linux web hosting is considered to be more secure than windows and it is an open source system and it is more stable and reliable.

and it is more stable and reliable.

If done properly Windows can be just as stable and reliable as Linux. For example, Windows takes more resources than Linux so we offset that with more powerful servers (96GB ram on Linux vs 196GB ram on Windows servers).

Do you offer Windows yourself? What is your setup?

I usually recommend Linux. However if you want to use Windows Applications like Kentico CMS or Umbraco, you should go for Windows.
