Who is listed at findmyhost.com ?

I have applied to be listed as well, but not getting a response other than newsletters.

I have a feeling it is going to cost dearly to get listed on a website with that much age and from what I understand authority.

Findmyhost are SPAMMERS as i just got this pre sales support ticket. spammers are now using this method as they leave no direct email header to trace, but they forget that WHMCS logs thier IP 173.16.14.184 which will be reported to their upstream provider and banned from our servers.

They just use signup form to shoot you with their e-newsletters, promoting some product/services from time to time. Though sometimes Richard Guzzo shares interesting information about hosting industry :)

So as i have never contacted them or even visited thier website what would you call purposly sending this message through support ticket rather than general email.

SPAM which this Richard Guzzo knows exactly what he is doing as if he sent through general email it would leave an exact trace (email header) to the originating sender which you would need to report to services such as spamcop and some upstream providers.

That's a little too harsh, in my opinion. If you wanted to make sure a company receives your proposal and assigns it to the proper department/individual - using a helpdesk system makes sense.

I only have 2 departments open to non registered clients (pre-sales and reviews) and this message was sent to both. Spammers are starting to use ticket systems more and more to avoid leaving email headers. We get approx. a dozen a week using this method

Which part?

Increased volume of spam through ticket system or receiving email messages from FindMyHost?

Spam. We typically delete all e-mails that don't have a sales question in the title so never paid attention as to if we got one from them or not. We get a crazy amount of listings and seo offers every day.

We signed up and never receive a reply about our application. In fact all we ever received was a newsletter every 2-3 days.

If we get spam we always report this to spamcop, but if a spammer uses your sites support ticket system then they email notice you get is from your own system, but if they send spam through normal email you have a full header of where the email originated from, so you can report this to their upstream provider etc.

if you check through the WHMCS forum and even WHT it seems to be a more common thing now that spam is being sent through ticket systems as some spammer are under the impression that they leave no email header to trace them, but they dont realise that their IP is logged along with server logs of the entry to the system. but some providers (yahoo and google are 2) that will not do anything unless you can provide the full header showing the spammers details and timeline.

One idea so far would be to create a hook to filter key words might prevent this. Coming in to the office with a ticket list spammed is never fun. ;/

I think you have to be invited to be in that site.

no, their is a link at the bottom (footer) of their home page where any host can apply, but as they spam you and as other on seem to have stated all tyhey do is send newsletters etc. then it just goes to show they are just spammers and are only interested in building up a list of emails to spam.

We're deleting a testing hosting account we've provided them 7 months ago for free, as they never even logged in to check if our plans do fit their "standards".

I initially thought this was something similar to WhoIsHostingThis.com, but I see it is not the case.

It is a paid directory for web hosting providers. I don't really like the site's design, but I skimmed the lists of companies they show, and I am pretty impressed with how many of them there are...

the way he spams they may have just added them hosts to make their site look good and attract others so they can harvest emails to send their newsletters etc. as if you read through this thread it seems this is all that happens
