My advise is to start local advertising. Print some business cards and flyers. Contact the freelancers in your area. Do some local directory listing.
 
Websites, blogs and forums can be the best place to sell Webhsoting space You can also advertise on other blogs and can also sell thru forums such as presently you are marketing free of cost lol

I would focus on dialing in your product then advertise, press release, do smart SEO, and like the guy above said get your link everywhere possible!
 
Sit down. THing a good business plan and stick to it.
After that just dont lie and start promoting.

If you get your first customers and they are happy then they will make a good review and probably tell others to come..

Word of mouth is the best promotion that you can make
 
I got many clients through web hosting forums. :) This is why I love community more than standart adverting with Google or Bidvertiser. :)
 
Well I always to write as an user/client:

So I you shoud start offering:

Usual: share hosting - vps.
Nousual: mail - game slots.

Now as a member:

You have to focus in a potential zone, your country, city etc, there you ahve to talk with your friends that recomedn you for those services, and they are gonna recomend you again.

Also offer prices not cheap and not expensive you have to remember that now we have a lot of companies with the same services.

Also your service in diiferent langauges :D
 
You kinda have to try very many different things because there wont really be one specific way to get customers. Just keep trying til you see what works for you.
 
Best way to get your hosting know many people and visit your site than do good Seo by posting good quality and unique content in Article , Press release and blogs you will get good result
