Start small and purchase a reseller plan to help you establish a solid clientele and reputation. Once you have both of these and are turning a profit, you can then upgrade to a VPS. After deciding to purchase a VPS, consider whether you want to:
1) An unmanaged VPS (you must be knowledgeable about servers in order to avoid having to pay a fortune for maintenance on the server);
2) A managed VPS (since you lack skills with a VPS, your provider will handle the majority of tasks on the server at no additional cost).
