VPS Hosting is best

Hi,

All of them have advantages in their unique manner.
1. Virtual Hardware upgrade is more quick compared to physical. VPS gets plus point here.
2. Complete VPS backup can be done and snapshot can also be done. VPS gets another point here.

Dedicated:
1. You get complete accessibility to the physical Hardware. Dedicated gets plus point here.
2. More powerful due to above feature.

VPS is definitely better than Shared Hosting and dedicated is much better than VPS, but choosing which hosting totally depends on the type of business website and budget too.

I have to a agree with you on that, I would rather use a VPS over shared hosting any day of the week, but it is a lot more expensive .

Yeah, totally the best. It is scalable so even when you grow you will have the ability to increase the resources without signing up for another plan. So it is suitable for both - either for small, either for bigger websites, so a person will not get caught.
Moreover, it can be used by those who doesn't have much IT knowledge as they have the ability to use managed hosting when the hosting provider solves all the technical problems.
I am for VPS. Totally

Yes, VPS hosting is a good solutions as you can set up and manage your own environment. However, shared hosting is best solution for the website with low traffic and serving HTML content. VPS would be a costly affair for the.

Selection of shared hosting or VPS hosting should be done on the basis of the incoming traffic to your website. If website traffic is low, you can start with the basic shared hosting package and then upgrade the package as per the requirements.

I really like this technique when threads long dead are revived by newbies to increase their post count and self-promote. These answers are either stupid or pointless, yet still they reply.

This is common to all forums< that is why all forums are dead. (with the exception of fiercely-moderated WHT, where you cannot self-promote in other peoples' threads)

The main difference is in resource allocation. With a VPS you share the the server resources with other, but onlike shared hosting the resources are being allocated rationally.
And with a dedicated server to have all the resources in the server under your complete control, you are the sole occupant.

True, also with a VPS you have more control of what goes on the server and it is your responsibility to make sure the server is secure

This is true, but then if you are running CloudLinux you get users having equal shares of CPU, Memory & I/O, rather than VPSs getting equal shares, a lot depends on what you software stack comprises of.

Now a days companies are using cloud linux with shared server too and limiting its resources. But what best about VPS is the root access.

I would say that VPS is the best option exactly for those, who still don't know into what kind of business their website might grow and it actually has lots of potential to do so.

For example, VPS might cover both - individual sites, blogs or even small e-commerce sites.

VPS is a great middle option, because it lets to customize the plan in any case - it means that when a website grows, VPS might be customized to its growing needs.

But yes, when reaching the time when VPS is not enough anymore - dedicated hosting should work just fine.

Well, it gives you the rights to manage your space as you want, own resources, linux commands and whatever you want.

It's surely better than shared hosting if you are good with Linux otherwise stay away and go for a "managed" solution with a shared hosting :)

Both are different. The choice of Hosting service is mainly depends on the usage of the service and basic Client's requirements.

Do not compromise what had been planned about for the web site just to meet the level of what can just be offered with the cheap web hosting package.

Before the introduction of VPS hosting, dedicated servers used to rule the web hosting industry. However, due to the high cost of dedicated servers, users were often boot strapped.

Sacrificing performance, customers opted for shared hosting for its cost effectiveness. The gap between shared hosting and dedicated servers was vast. To bridge this gap, intermediate VPS hosting was introduced. Nowadays,Technicians started to consider VPS hosting as a tailored solution with benefits of both shared hosting (Price) and dedicated server hosting (Performance). VPS Hosting is the best solution those who have outgrown the Shared Hosting and cannot afford the Dedicated server.

A VPS and Dedicated server was out of the reach of many people looking for their sites to be hosted, so people chose shared hosting, then reseller and master reseller hosting was introduced allowing people to host multiple sites under 1 main account.

But these days you can get an unmanaged VPS cheaper than reseller hosting which will also give you a bit more control, but then again if you dont have experience or knowledge then a VPS can be the wrong move for you, so you would need a managed VPS which will be considerable more expensive than an unmanaged VPS

VPS hosting is best for many customers, because it is best suited for their needs. You have your own operating system, you install all needed software and plug-ins, you can order a control panel to have GUI, just like at your home machine, you have your own IP address, ports, can configure your firewall and other soft and you have your OWN resources, not shared with anyone else. These resources are pretty limited still, as VPS is merely a part of a dedicated server. And the best part of it is that VPS costs significantly less than a private solution.

As for "not having experience"... People, come on, it's 2015, not 1995. You can just google "how to setup your VPS" and find a ton of detailed step-by-step guides from hosting companies. Moreover, many companies <MOD NOTE: snipped> provide fully-configured VPS solutions and help with their further setup if need be.

You are never left alone in the dark.
