The control panel of choice?

Well, I manage several of servers and customers do prefer CPanel servers but from my perspective Plesk is better. I tend to make all my servers with Plesk (Everytime possible). I also use HELM for Windows 2003 servers.

We are using H-Sphere nearly three (3) years now. We like it becuase we can offer Windows, Linux and VPS (Linux) hosting in single Reseller account. Using it, Resellers can their your own customizable Control Panel (cp.yourdomain.com). Also they can have their own packages, name servers and brand.

I have clients thanking me about transferring their sites from previous servers. With a simple click of a button this is done easily with cPanel that has to be my favorite feature!

I offer both cPanel (on the linux accounts) and Plesk (on the Windows accounts). I added Plesk because I added Windows but I have always liked it. I find that most customers, given the choice, will go with cPanel though.

...

I'd like to say that after trying DirectAdmin, it is now my control panel of choice. This control panel has the flexibility of CPanel (allows multiple ftp accounts, daily backups of everything including emails!, etc) but also includes the nice design and easy to navigate feature of Plesk.

Now the big one! Lifetime License: $299.00 (one-time, no recurring charges)

this sure beats CPanels $1250 license fee and Plesk's $799.

Rigth now I'm using CPanel, however I'm planning to move to DirectAdmin, and from what I heard it can easily take CPanel backup tarballs to import your clients into a DA system.

One more thing, from my brief experience I've also noted that DA loads faster than CPanel

DA is definitely a good alternative to cPanel but in my opinion cPanel is the best. As far as loading faster I think that has more to do with how it is setup more than anything else. I was an avid Plesk user but cPanel is now my control panel of choice.

Yes theres an import script available on the DA forum. I haven't tried it myself as the small hosting companies we've taken over we have transferred by hand.

DA IMHO is way way better than cpanel - but maybe thats just because years ago when I was a reseller I had some bad experiences with some very buggy systems. In fairness it's probably moved on from there.

DA monitors the main processes and attempts to restart any that have stopped - in practice I've found that pretty useful.

DA is still a young control panel (2 years old) but I have no doubt it is set to be a major player in the future.

It also has a good community on the forum :)

I'd like to see a plugin designed for it (you can add your own plugins too) that auto imports from cpanel tarballs. When this happens cpanel will lose ALOT of customers and DA hosts will be in a better marketing position.

cPanel. I have used others such as Plesk and I hate em.

MangoWebs,

Have you tried Direct Admin ?

I am an un-apologetic DA Evangelist and am interested if people prefer cpanel because they have not tried Direct Admin or, because they don't know DA or that they have compared the two and still prefer cpanel.

I think I posted links to demos somewhere on the forum but for ease they are

here
