The control panel of choice?

H-Sphere all the way -> All in 1 control panel
H-Sphere is a great automated solution. If you can configure it properly it can do wonders for your hosting company. But then again it can be your worst nightmare if you don't take the time to learn every aspect of it. ;)

Wow I can't believe this thread was such a shut-out. I'm pretty fond of the new Plesk; but I might have to try cPanel now :) .

Cpanel

I've worked with Plesk 7.1 and Cpanel and I'll have to say CPanel is my favorite of the 2.

Plesk is great, it's layout is very easy to follow both root administration and webmaster admin's end. However a few things that I didn't like about it that made me choose Cpanel was the fact that atm, you can only create 1 ftp user per domain, you can only assign 1 db user to 1 database, and a "plesk update" brought my server down. Other than that they're both good control panels and plesk is constantly improving itself, so I agree with the poster who said it will give cpanel a run for its money, but at the moment I prefer CPanel.

I've been using Ensim Pro for just over 2 years now, since I got my first dedicated server. But I'm so fed up with the developers pointing their middle finger skywards to users that want things like PostgreSQL and Mailman added in that I'm getting ready to jump ship.

I've been looking at either Plesk or cPanel and this thread has been very helpful with the level of support cPanel clearly has over Plesk!

One question that's been on my mind about cPanel .. a friend told me a year or so ago that when a site reaches its monthly quota, it stops until month roll over. Is this still the case? I would rather allow customers a small amount of excess b/w or charge for heavier use, but I can't afford a site to just stop :S

Both Plesk and cPanel are great I say either or would be a great choice. Why not provide both for your end users! :)

That sounds like a lot of hard work, effort and .. oh crap, that's an awful reason not to do it. I'll just have to consider offering both :)

I personally use, and LIKE Ensim Pro. I see all these people put down Ensim all over, because it doesn't have every feature under the sun, like other CP's do.

It's stable, you can customize it quite a bit, and fairly easily, and the best part is their sandboxes are the most secure of any CP. It's also fairly easy to learn to work with for both Admin's and End User's, so I've got no complaints with it.

The only thing that can be a problem is when an update comes out from RedHat and breaks something that Ensim depends on (which is very little at this point), that can be annoying, because when upgrading, if you're one of the first, you get to find out what's been broken.. and then either downgrade back, or get the fix from Ensim, which I will give is a bit slow sometimes.

We provide Direct Admin - Before we used cpanel but after a while using DA we've never looked back!!

DA is more stable, with less problems, but cpanel is preffered by the customers especially with fantastico and Rvskin, its just a great combination.

I can't give an opinion on Rv Skin but www.Installatron.com for DA is IMHO better than Fantastico - infact the guys at iTron have brought out a cpanel version too :)
