SEO in 2018

For Doing SEO! You don't have to do Hard work. SEO is all about smart work and for that you have to focus on Google Updates and some the referring site like MOZ and Serach Engine Land.
 
You'll hear about this a lot these days, but I believe you should focus on providing quality content, that people would genuinely appreciate, and then share it across all your channels.

Additionally, besides the many other ways to get backlinks, you can get quality ones by participating in groups of like-minded people ( that provide the same type of content ). As such, if you also provide valuable content, you'll most likely be invited to guest post on their websites, or they will share your content etc.
 
Probably youve read a lot about this but here's what I do....

1. CONTENT - yes quality content. (optional: Keyword research, density and others if you have time.)
2. ON PAGE OPTIMIZATION - use Yoast if ever you are using Wordpress.
3. OFF PAGE OPTIMIZATION
a. Link Building - you need guest post, quality related backlinks... Ratio: 1 (backlink) : 100,000 / 200,000 unique views. (I wont go into much detail but its the safest.)
b. Keyword Click Activity on Search Engines (check on semrush or ahrefs to see the activity and boost the keyword with a lot of potential.)
4. Social Presence (just dont spam, FB, Twitter, Instagram is enough)
 
In SEO, make sure you have done On Page for your website with relevant keywords. do not use duplication content.

Off page: do work on Business Listing, Classified, Press release, Blog and articles, Forums

This will really helpful for your website to get Good backlinks and traffic.

Content on the site and blog posts etc is a great way to start. You wouldn't get very far to start especially with the more broad search terms that you'd want to have a good placement for simply because larger players (A2, BlueHost, SG etc) is already gunning for it with big investments and teams dedicated to this.

However, by not throwing money down the drain you can invest into a much better product/service. Grow your brand. One day you'll have the funds and resources to really push in other areas to aid SEO such as backlinks and the content strategy would (or should) already be in place as you've been doing it this whole time!
 
I've struggled with this myself. But our site ranks on the first page in our country for good reason and we did SEO ourselves.

All we focused on was onpage SEO and good pricing. Secondly we didnt really focus on links. Our customers posted links to our site on social media, etc. It may take time but just get the basics right and give it time to process.
