Next Generation Web Hosting 2023

I 2023, I see harddrives using quartz to store huge amounts of data with amazing speeds (much, much faster than SSD), everything transmitted via fiber optics (no more metal wires), and processors so powerful a provider could host many thousands of individual clients with ease at a fraction of the cost today. Homes with internet speeds of 100+ Mbps will be the norm.

Hopefully, anyways.. ;)

I personally see Mobile App hosting becoming a larger necessity/market. Storage size will become cheaper and faster (like the current transition to SSD going on for the last few years).

Cloud hosting also will be larger in my opinion...or maybe it will have an entirely new definition by then. You think redundant hosting is cool now....wonder how it will be marketed/shown off in 2023 :)

Maybe we will have invented.

1. The unlimited harddisk
2. The unlimited CPU
3. Unlimited bandwidth connections.

That way you really could have unlimited hosting for $1 a month

But you offer unlimited sites, unlimited email and unlimited databases -- that would require unlimited hard disk, unlimited cpu and unlimited bw. You must be ahead of your time!

:D

will be modified, but data centers will exists

Agreed, Data Centers I feel will be around for a very long time, maybe they will be condensed as servers become smaller, but I feel there will always be a need for data centers.

even if you have a home server it is still being provided by a provider, but you would still need datacenters for the power needs etc.

but just think a few years ago the general user could not afford a VPS or dedicated server, but look at the prices of these now along with self help information online, the same will happen with home servers in a few years time, these will be affordable by many

I am thinking most if not all hosts will be cloud hosting. Most sites will probably be app based instead of an actual site.

Also some IPS' do not allow you to have a web server.

I meant ISP, it is written in their policy that you can not have a server. My isp used to have that but I am not sure if they still do.

Yes most wont if you have a residential broadband contract/connection, but it is different if you have a business service with your ISP, but if you have a home server to run a hosting business, then you have to think of the added security and utility costs.

That is a good prediction. I see it happening already with some of my brick-and-mortar customers. Many line of business apps are becoming accessible with a web browser instead of the usual windows gui. Mobile devices are pushing this a bit.

Technically speaking, these apps are "sites" but to the customer its the same application they've been using for years -- just updated. Unless today's traditional web host keeps up, they will soon become relics

I mean apps that you would download and installed from android or iTunes. I have seen some businesses create apps to show off their company instead of making a web site or they even replace their site with a downloadable app.

How do you think web hosting will be in the 2023? Would we be paying for web space, will GB be like a thing of the past, will laptops and desktops become like typewriters. How do you feel web hosting will present itself in the next generation.

Probably, everything will be more on Air Sensors and not anymore touch screens. Desktops and laptops will be more like tabs today with the price of those like with shared hosting
