More Reviews = Credibility?

It's good to have reviews displayed on your website, the more good reviews you have the better really, as potential new clients see what past (and present) clients think of the service.

Well, This is not always the case due to one bad review is going to out way 5 good reviews.

Statistically, the average consumer will tell 9 people about a good experience, while a consumer averagely tells 22 people about a bad experience.

Yah, not necessarily credible because it can be fake. For example, I heard lots of Hostgator review and I tried it for like a month for reseller hosting, their support is pretty decent but I don't find it standing out compared to other hosting companies. :uhh:

i have seen hosts that use templates have the same default testimonials still shown on their site, some do change the names of who sent the reviews, but thats all they do, so hosts will even write their own reviews under different names, so reviews cannot be a trusted way to find a host.

It does matter to some extent. Probably not so much for prospects but may be for leads. As it would help one ascertain the reliability of the host.

So what you are saying is a host can add a 100 reviews (fake) on their website and it would make them trustworthy and reliable as they have 100 positive reviews

Hahahahaha...
I think it would be a good idea if we can get someone notable in the industry to use our hosting services and write a review for us.

Do you have a link to a report that shows these numbers?

Testimonials and reviews do help, afteralll, they're the ones that are spreading the word about you. Testimonials on your own website however have a limited play in action decisions I've always found. I'd much rather find the reviews on 3rd party sites or on clients websites. Again, those can be purchased reviews so it does require a little bit of digging.

Reviews work, and bad reviews are actually a good thing - it can show that the reviews are made by real people. As for getting reviews for people that are known in the industry, those will come naturally. While I've asked people in the past for reviews on our service, it's not something that is done regularly, nor is it proposed to clients that have been with us for only a few months. Usually these are clients that have been with us for 3, 4 or 5 years - and based on our performance, they're happy to review us.

yes where the link to such stats.

Yes you can look through forums (HD included) and 9 out of 10 host reviews will be negative as a majority of people will only post on forums about bad experiences with hopsots and not good experiences.

That's interesting. Do you have any links to the research? A word of mouth is one of the greatest marketing tools, but it works only if your clients are fully satisfied.

I'm sure there are some if you searched but I was just using that as an example of what I read. If you do not believe it then let that be your opinion. I think I would think more about it then just say its incorrect.

Thank You for sharing your thoughts . It is very informative, maybe I should not believe right away on reviews until I find more details to prove that those are correctly reviewed not paid. :)
