How many hours a day do you work?

When you start up, you have to put those hours in to succeed.

- Daniel :)

I hear that. For personal projects I'll sleep when I'm dead, which of course makes working a regular job a nightmare when I have to split the time up.

I think my work just tends to suffer when I don't give adequate time to sleeping or just reading a book or something every now and again though, the code I write at 5am is just nonsensical "get 'er done" kind of work compared to what I can put up after a hearty breakfast and a nice nap. But then again, that miracle breakthrough always seems to be just around the corner more exhausted you get.

No wonder I already have Reed Richards style gray hair at 30, haha.

I work an average of 8-10 hours a day. Working up in Tennessee with a non-profit putting in 40 hours there, then after that I spent off time doing personal projects which is all pretty much online work so I wouldn't consider it work :P

I work more for myself than I ever did as an employee for someone else, but if I want the day off I take it and if the kids are sick I am at home.

One thing is for sure, I love what I do and I do not look at it as work.

I work about 9 hours a day (including lunch break) so I guess it's really more like 8 or so... Do you guys stay overtime very often? Are you encouraged to do so?

Our management team is pretty much on call 24/7. We'll alternate to allow each of us to get some sleep. Our techs are on a 4 day work week pulling 10 hour shifts. I totally agree with incloudibly when they stated "The simple rule is the more you do, the higher the return." There is zero substitution for hard work.

I work a part-time / full-time job and I also run my own business. I usually work from about 7:30 AM to about 1:00 AM. 7:30 to 8a is my business.. 8a - 5p is the company I work for.. then 5p to 1am is my business.

I work as a faculty in computer science. And when I'm not teaching, I'm working for my hosting business.

Actually my staff get more leisure time to spend than me! :)

But, I never felt I'm working as I love what I do(hosting/teaching).

When our company just started, my colleague and I were working 10 hrs a day. Now, the load is a little lighter coz we have more people doing the menial tasks. But then we get more customers now too so I'm still on a 9 hour shift after 10 years in the hosting business.
