How long before your first customer?

1 customer at a time, we used to set goals of 1 a week, but dont be to hard on yourself if you cant get that. if you can get one you can get 2, if you can get 2, you can get 4. and so on. Always focus, on 1 at a time.

It does depend on how much you advertise. But I would try to find a couple of close clients that you have worked with before so that they can start your word of mouth advertising which is 100% free.

I`m still waiting for a first web customer, as all the customers on the server, some of my previous clients and some are my friends. Now I`m waiting for first real customer.

It actual depends from many factors. The first thing how is your marketing is and to which customer it is orientated.
For example if your major clients are big companies when you maybe will get one customer per month which would worth 1000 shared hosting customer.
If we are talking about shared hosting customers I think the best thing to do is to give a try for your new customers your service (if you are new in the game). Like for example give 2000 free yearly accounts, trust me they will get your conversation rate into paid hosting.
Another side of this scenario how your website is optimized for the first impression. What are steps for ordering web hosting (is it hard, or is it confusing to order). In another words usability of your website.

That is not a secret why many of the companies are doing usability tests just to increase the conversation rate and lower the bounce rate.

If you will need any help in website usability PM me.

Hm, I got my first customers maybe.. within 1-2 weeks. Everything was thanks to a biggest programming website in internet where I have been a moderator almost for 5 years.

Mine came about a month after i registered the domain, took me two weeks to write the code for the site tho and it's still not finished :)

Customer came from a local technology forum that i use to recently post on.
