What this means for Checkout merchants
Merchants can continue to accept payments using Google Checkout until November 20, 2013.

If you don't have your own payment processing, you will need to transition to a different solution within six months. To make things easier, we've partnered with Braintree, Shopify and Freshbooks to offer you discounted migration options.
If you are a U.S. merchant that does have payment processing, you can apply for Google Wallet Instant Buy, which offers a fast buying experience to Google Wallet shoppers.

We invite merchants to join us for a live webinar on May 23, 2013 at 10AM PST to learn more. Or, you can visit the Help Center for more details.

The key to the whole thing is the legal docs google presents to merchant upon sign up. Check out Wallet for Business, sign up like I did and let us know the results. Press releases and special announcements do not replace a TOS. A future merchant can't be expected to search for old announcements and use them as addendums to a TOS, or a replacement. You don't treat your own TOS like that, do you?

I have spoke to a rep at Google and currently it will only be allowed in USA, but for webhosting is if you offer other things on your site then it wont be allowed, you have only to offer webhosting and domain services ( internet and networking). If you offer SSL certs/software then you cant use Wallet.

The are looking at the UK market for wallet. they pointed me to the blog post i gave above. as they are not moving over til Nov. they are still working on the main TOS and things like UK market etc.

edit
you can look at various forums and you will see various threads on this subject all with different advice from Google, so it looks like even Google are not sure what they are doing or what Wallet will and will not allow, so if they dont know how are we to know.

I can see what will most likely happen, Google will be indecisive on this matter until about a week before they shut down GC, then they will give decisive answers hoping all their users will still have remained with them.

You might be asking the wrong questions to the wrong dept. As I pointed out to Alex above, I did a signup (Wallet for Business -- not Wallet In-App, not Wallet Instant Buy) as if from UK. I got the same TOS as my USA signup.

have you not heard of IP logging, you could sign up as if you were in outer mongolia, but the google system would log your IP as in the USA and this is what their system will go off.

no it was the correct department as they also pointed out their blog which i linked to earlier.

many companies and google are one run different processes for UK and USA operations due to different country legislations etc.

they are working on UK processes and their full TOS for wallet as its not fully implemented yet to take over from GC.

as i stated look at several different forums as you will find many different comments google have told users

have you not heard of IP logging,

It doesn't matter where you sign up. The form asks you what country your business is in. You could be visiting me or be at home -- doesn't matter. And have you not heard of proxies?

:shaky: Funny how you continue to refuse to just go to google wallet site and check out the sign-up and tos for yourself and would rather make your decisions based on he-said/she-said.

as i stated look at several different forums as you will find many different comments google have told users

No there isn't :smash:

This developing story is an important subject for the industry. It wasn't necessary to turn this into an argument.
