Google will definately enter the hosting industry according to http://www.google.com/jobs/lunar_job.html "The Googlunaplex will house 35 engineers, 27,000 low cost web servers..."

I'm not sure exactly how serious they are about this considering later in there post they talk about hiring a sushi chef that was employed by Hanson, and having "Giant lava lamps filled with biomass suspended in seawater generate oxygen for the complex"

*shrug*

Edit: Nevermind this has to be a joke, as I read further I saw "It's a logical question to ask. Google's current engineering facilities in the United States, India and Switzerland are all leaders in search technology development. However, by locating a research and technology center on the Moon, Google engineers will be able to experiment with an entirely different set of parameters."

It seems google is planning on whipping out a whole new number of features like their wallet service and I guess now this registar.

With such a great advertising tool and a great chance to self-promote they'd really get alot of business for either domains or hosting (if they decided to offer it). Has anyone tried their new Google Earth service?

those who scream MONOPOLY are the same ones who aren't creative enough to get their own niche or present something better. In my industry (which is not IT related) it's the same thing, the companies that cry monopoly the loudest are the ones who just aren't very creative. what do you expect from a capitalist society.

on the other hand, as the old saying goes: "power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely..."
