A free host can just stop and pack up and you would be left with nothing and no recourse

dont forget a host is in business to make a profit, so he pays $300 a month for a server and then gives all hosting FREE, how long can a business go with a $300 loss each month per server.
 
Nop, do not trust your website to a free host unless they have been around for years and event then I would be leary! If you value your content, spend the extra few bux for security and stability!

Limitation yes..because the people who looking for FREE hosting also have a limit budget to pay for hosting services.

limited budgets dont come into it. you can find some good basic paid hosting from $0.99 a month that will give you a start

the limitations with free hosting will be

1) NO emails accounts (this is due to most free hosting is taken up by those wanting to send spam)

2) NO databases

3) NO CGI

4) NO free support

5) NO script installers ( fantistico etc.)

6) NO perl etc.

maybe some basics,but not much

if you dont have

emails
databases
CGI
Perl

how would you learn about webmail, MySQL databases, CGI, Perl etc. which if you are serious about hosting you will need to know the basics of these.
 
You have to be careful when it comes to free hosting as, unless the owner has unlimited funds, they may someday not have the money to keep paying the server you use for free, and all your files are gone. It happens all the time with free hosts, here today, gone tomorrow.

So don't trust any important or business files on a free host, but for a site that is not so important, I like http://dhost.info/
 
I think the problem with a lot of free hosts, is they are trying to get money, so to make a service you give away for free profitable, you need to do some kinda of icky things.

Free Hosting is nothing
Can you believe that anyone will give you something for free
Spend money and then only you can succeed.

Free hosting can eat you and your website anytime
 
It is not worth offering free hosting long term. We used to offer free to paid hosting just to help spread the word, etc.

Shared web hosting is so cheap, why bother using a free account, I'd rather pay around £2.95 with a reputable provider so I know data transfer speeds are not being limited, etc.
 
i don't believe in free hosting for me the best one is the paid hosting were you get many as compared to free hosting and also good support
