free hosting

Hosting companies are in the business for a few reasons, one of those reasons is to support their families, and expand. That's difficult to do when offering FREE hosting services.

Most FREE hosting providers that I have found normally attach ads to each free website which gives them income that way rather than the consumer paying for services. Also bear in mind, how are you supposed to pay your team with offering free services? I don't know about you but I don't like working for free.

another thing, if you offer free hosting who is going to pay

1) your dedicated server/VPS fees
2) addon software fees
3) business fees
4) staff wages
5 your wages

theses are not free

He is probably going to put ads on the free hosting websites... i dont recomend free hosting btw

free hosts that dont place ads all over your site will only giove a barebones plan

webspace (small)
bandwidth (small)
1 ftp
no email or 1 email
no cgi
no db

but more than likely a free host will be overselling servers, not bothered what they host, so you could end up without a site as the server is taken down as it gets used by spammers

Not what I do,but I have lots of competitors that does :P
For me and for the guys who don't have a credit card or a payment method, it is the only option.

With a couple of volunteers, the team can be made. Its hard to be a free host owner. But still, its quite fulfilling at the end to see that you've helped starting webmasters on their first sites.

There are hardly any good free hosts left, and if there exists some, they put up banners or some other sort of advertisments, sometimes they limit file size transfer by FTP,

Paid Hosting is always better, in paid you get satisfaction from your host in terms of support and various other things.

Well they do this as they may be giving you free hosting, but they still have to pay for the server your site is hosted on, so the advertisers pay to have the advert on your site and this pays for the server.

you can still get support etc. with free hosting, but the host may charge you for these services.

I have never used a free host and i never offer free hosting plans, as these usually attract spammers or conmen who will use these and then if they get kicked off they just find another free host as this does not cost them.

this is true

This is not correct, you have support for it but is much slower than the pay service.
especially if you offer free and paid hosting

true.... lot of abuse (Spammers, hackers, adult sites)
to protect themselves, many do not give the mail service.

Some may just offer slower support, but i may not have used a free hosting provider, but i have researched a few in my 10+ years in the hosting business and yes some do charge for support etc. on free hosting.

their was 1 i come across a couple of years back where they would give you 2 free support tickets/requests a month with a average 72 hr wait and then further requests were $5 each

in the past I've used many free hosting to test templates and script and no one have charged me for support.... I'm lucky :)

Free is not at all a good idea to join in any case because we have a great option of paid hosting which great features and support.

Generally speaking, most free hosting companies are unreliable for any sort of serious website. Those who offer lots of "premium" features generally go out of business soon and those who stays offer little features. Low cost paid hosting is much more reliable in such scenarios.

Hi,

Truly saying I don`t believe in Free Hosting and the points why I am saying this are:
You cannot sell your free hosted blog
Free host blog can stop working anytime
No technical support available
Regular Advertisement Trouble
No Control Panel

Oh so sure? So far, i have nothing more than a VPS, sponsored by a friend of a master reseller host that I have. This turned into a formal friendship between me and my sponsor, to the point he said he'll keep it forever. Yes, no free lunch, but it is atleast free to me, and he's happy (but it has no relation to the current providers, reviewed)

CP: SolusVM/Kloxo
ADS: None required (so far until now)
No technical support available: it's via MSN, so how it can be a no?
Free host blog can stop working anytime: True, but he confirmed he won't be going anytime soon.
You cannot sell your free hosted blog: It's not a blog, but I won't sell it. It's my virtual desktop. At the time of this writing, it's like a second layer to me. It's speed it's 1GBPS, so that's about it.

This type of thing, occurs once in a lifetime, so you gotta take it.

Like what Jolly said, it is an exception and do you really think such things do happen all the time? Guess not. ;)

Besides, in paid hosting, everything is generally more reliable. You don't have to wait for your friend to come online on MSN, you don't have to worry if he will break his promise and go missing overnight etc.
