Formatting harddrive

I installed Fedora core on a spare computer to play around with but now i need to use this computer so trying to get windows XP back on it. but when i try to boot from the CD it says config hardware and so on then screen turns black and nothing happens.

Am i doing this all wrong or what

Boot from cd option then fdisk, delete all partitions and create a new dos partition. Or create two partitions so you can dual boot win/linux.

David is correct. . . when all else fails : reformat.

But just for that extra precaution i would wipe it with a program with at least a d.o.d wiper. and wipe it like 8 or 9 times

You can google for bartpe and use that to troubleshoot any unbootable hd. You can put many troubleshooting programs in bartpe.

I would also recommend BartPE, it helped me many times.
