FIFA World Cup 2006

Done.
May the best team win.
On a side not, the goal by Beckham was won of the best I've seen him score.
Until now I have been thoroughly unimpressed by his performance.

Any Aussies here? I am Italian and I would like to apologize for the shameless theft. The penalty was non existent.

:rolleyes2

I disagree.
The ball wasn't touched and the Aussie player did trip the Italian.
It's unfortunate it came when it did but the rules are the rules.

Australia had a 40 minute man advantage and they didn't take advantage.

Yes! Italy defeated Germany. It's either Italy vs. France or Portugal. I hope it's Portugal vs. Italy though. That would be a great game!

Unexpected but a good final.
I hope one of the teams scores early in the match on Sunday. That always opens up play.
Italy has not allowed a goal yet I don't think, other than the one against the US which they put in their own net, so I'm predicting France's run to end.

Final Score.
Italy 2
France 0

My vote goes to Italy as well. Just the way they got their stuff together and starting playing late in the championship deserves it. I think their game, their attacks and defending is superior to one France has been showcasing.

Viva Italia! :green: :white: :red:

The Azzurri took the title.

Zidane can now repeatedly watch the replays in his retirement.

Vito

Unexpected? Yes. Do you deny it? If anyone was predicting an Italy-France final then sign them up for the psychic award of the year.

Vito, Zidane can live in shame for his remaining days.
What a pathetic way to end a career. An embarassment to the game to be sure.

OK, let's talk about this. Zidane is a professional with an outstanding career. What could have caused an individual with such traits to attack another player the way they did? I don't think the action was completely unwarranted.

Art, I'm not one to be overly impressed by a career of good play when the actual character of the player is obvious.
This is not the first time Zidane has pulled a sleazy move like this.
He has done it in league play which of course gets little press, and lets not forget his 1998 red card for stomping on a player or his red card for head butting in 2001 in the Champion's league.

There are many great players out there that don't have these kind of infractions on their record regardless of whatever provocation there might have been.
