Facebook

FB page is critical and soon the same will be google+'s equivalent(can't think of the name right now) but search engine traffic gonna be mostly social media and content.

Facebook can be used in place of your business website.
We could maximize the opportunity in interacting with people..thus producing a lead to the business.

a facebook page is always good to promote your website. you can inform your fans about new products, changes, improvements or just plain entertain them.

How useful is it in your experience to put a like button on your web hosting site to facebook and create a page their for your company? What are the pros and cons?

I have it on my web hosting and its doing great. Everybody is using social networks so why not join them? It will give you a wider opportunities and a greater chances of having new visitors. :)

FB and hosting never seems to mix if you think about.

I think I understand what you're getting at, but it's not like Facebook hosts sites per say. We haven't had a great deal of success with direct advertising on FB, but it is another way to promote our blog posts, make announcements, and engage in discussions (like Twitter in that regard).

Where the market is

Facebook can be an amazing tool, especially if you have the right type of friends. I graduated with a marketing degree, so I have a good network on FaceBook. It just depends on what type of product or service that you are selling. Either way, Facebook is good

I agree. Almost everyone is on Facebook and Facebook itself is already recognizing/encouraging businesses to put up their pseudo-site/page. One good example off the top of my head are those who offer e-commerce hosting sites. Since there are a lot of online sellers on Facebook, then the market is definitely there when they eventually decide to have their own e-commerce site.

I think the same, Twitter is a good tool for announcing things and we don't use Facebook.

If you're worried about the loading time that these buttons add to your site then don't put them on your homepage, place them on the sub pages ;)

Hmm well we dont have facebook or twitter.. we dont have any social buttons on our website either. I'll suggest it here and see if theres any interest.. it may help. :)

I have a fan page on Facebook and put the like button on my websites. More and more people on Facebook do like my page and visit my website. I don't know if I am just lucky.

I like having a facebook page because I can stay in touch with my readers. For instance, my newest blog posts would be automatically published in Facebook through Network Blogs. And I got a traffic spike through Facebook because of the like button in one of my entries.

We have a Facebook presence and on Google+, we get a few likes by customers, but for now it has not reached critical mass. Just have to remember to post updates!

Do you follow the number of likes you get for each post?

Facebook and Twitter are great sites for advertising as well as updating clients quickly on any issues. I recall seeing one webhost use their twitter account to update and announce any upcoming maintenance and answer any 'quick' questions. Facebook is a great means to host events, contests, and further prove to your clients how big the company is on social media and interacting with the customer.

there is a lot of traffic on facebook that's why it's not used often,

while twitter gives notifications almost instantly.
