Do you provide trial VPS?

Trials when actually trial is needed is OK. But beware of trial hunters and spammers. They are killing whole VPS/dedicated server trial idea. So we cancelled the automatic trials provisioning....

One way to try eliminating jokers is to offer moneyback guarantee instead. You MUST however add into your terms os service that spemmers or abusers do not qualify for the money back to make it extra effective.

Well, money back guarantee is better than a free trial. Not much people take a risk to use full time and ask for refund. Very few in my long career. With a free trial they do not take a risk, they can do everything they want.

In my 20 years as a host i could could on 1 hand how many times i have been asked if we do free trials.
At the same time i have never had anyone stop using our services in the MBG period for a refund

I think that any serious client who has the ability to pay will not be looking for free trial. They will just want to be sure you offer what you promise so moneyback will do them good and if you offer what you promise you will have very few asking for refunds. Free trial is always a sign of someone who just want to use, abuse and leave.

I did ask the one who started this thread in his PM if I could offer him a solution and he told me he had no access to card to pay online and that meant at the end of the trial he would just leave. That is what happens with server free trials.

Yes free trials are ideal for SPAMMERS as say you give a weeks free trial, then how much spam can they send out in that time and then you get the IPs blacklisted by Spamcop, Spamhaus etc. so take down the server, the spammer will then just move on.

I have even had cases where VPS orders have been placed and blocked etc. by maxmind, but the person ordering never contacts you to ask why the order was blocked/cancelled. If this happened to me then i would make contact with the host asking why the order was cancelled/blocked as some client have done when maxmind blocks them.

I would say if they dont contact and ask why then they were only going to abuse the server, so they will just move onto a host that will accept them

They never come asking because they are knowledgeable enough about what they are doing and its outcomes so when it happens they were expecting it anyway so they just look for the next host.
 
Most of the companies do not provide free VPS test because of abuses. As most of you said, it is a straight lead to spammers and abusers signups. On the other hand, my company always offers free trials for companies. And not even a VPS, but dedicated servers. Most of the time, it can lead to long term partnership.
 
Its hard to find trial VPS, because there can be done a lot of bad things with free trial.

They can use your free VPS for doing something bad like Fraud and anything that can hurt your business.

That is why hosting companies don't want to give free trial on VPS.
 
Instead of looking for trial package better to search for the hosting provider who are providing at least 15 days money back guarantee. Within this period you can test the vps and your websites how they work on it.

A lot of hosts exclude VPS and Dedicated servers from their MBG
 
i dont think you will find any money back guarantee on vps servers, because there is no point people still would use it to do bad things or something like that. the problem is because they have to set up vps for you which is taking time and providing resources.

Yes they can use the server to send out Spam etc. and then ask for their money back under a MBG and as it could take days before spam reports get back to you the spammers have got their refund and moved to another host and you now have a bad reputation
 
I wonder if there's any reputable provider offering trial VPS, but we do provide 15-day full money back guarantee VPS plans. So you can get full refund within 15 days and no questions will be asked.
