I strongly believe that WordPress is excellent for the average Joe that isn't savvy in creating websites manually. It's easy to use, well-known, features-rich and best of all; It's free! Website builders can get lost when we have WP. :P
 
Gone are the days when websites were different and preferable than blogs. The technical gap between these two platforms is becoming narrower day by day. Wordpress is closing this gap very fast and now a days blogs are more preferable than websites for business.

Wordpress distinct advantage over websites and other blogging platform is the plug ins. There are thousands of plug-in developed by WP fans. There is plug in for almost any thing, whether it is for designing, SEO, traffic, marketing, editing, caching, media, etc., and some has many plug ins. So, a novice who does not have any idea about website creation (forget about SEO) can create an outstanding website with the help of Wordpress. There is no need of ANY technical know-how.

The other important and critical thing is that a blog is a dynamic entity (meaning content is updated regularly) and hence will rank very high in Google search, as Google loves fresh and useful content. The importance of blogging can be gauged by the fact that every website has a blog now-a-days to incorporate fresh content regularly and so rank in the search.

The ease of auto updating and plugins is very amazing. I've messed around with the code some and it seems pretty easy to make your on modifications other then when you do an update, those are lost.
 
If you are not programmer and wish to launch your site, then wordpress is better option. You can start your blogs with no cost for software. It is opensource software.
 
I love wordpress, cause I found it is easy to use to start learning making website.

But lately, I found it slightly different. I cant find the 'theme option' menu anymore. So now I dont know how to edit and create header, footer, slider, all that..
 
I just really loved the wordpress. Solution of almost every requirement :) and now wordpress also allow to use it as eCommerce solutions ;)
 
I've used Wordpress for years now to create various websites, personally I find it incredibly easy to use and customise for almost every need. I know it has its disadvantages, but IMO its superior above all the other blogging/CMS systems out there.
 
I love Wordpress frontend, reading blogs, comments, but i hate it's backend, i jut hate working on it's admin settings,
