Cpanel auto updates/rollouts

Ever been stuck with these before when its not something you will manually upgrade on the server, but something cpanel (or any other place) decides everyone must have, and then your stuck dealing with tickets for the rest of the day?

Today I had something similar but the client came to me and said that cpanel was "broken". I asked them to re-create the steps to get to the "broken part" and they said its not possible. I then whois'd the domain and poof, expired.........:disagree:

I haven't used cPanel much but isn't there an option where you can turn off auto updating? I use DirectAdmin and they have that feature which I find to be much better incase the update goes wrong and you experience downtime. I prefer to have scheduled downtime over random downtime :).

Its always annoying when a company decides it knows more about what you want than you do. Kind of like websites that only work with one browser and not the other. If I wanted what you were offering I'd update/download it without you forcing it on me. makes you wonder what they did that made them feel the need to force updates on people.

Especially if the update has some sort of bug that affects the entire control panel which can pose a problem for a ton of users since it automatically updates. 1 security vulnerability = everyone gets screwed by auto updates.
