Once again, this is getting very old.
Unlimited hosting is a lie, BY DEFINITION.

Hosts who offer it are liars. They are lying to get clients. Period.
This is not a grey area. It is very, very black and white no matter how these scam artists try and justify it.

I couldn't agree more.

But unfortunately, a lot of uninformed consumers go for unlimited providers because they really think they are going to be the new "Facebook" on a shared hosting budget. :rolleyes2

They also go for a sales pitch that says they are getting the FIRST MONTH FREE when they pay for 11 months of additional hosting.

For instance if the plan sells for 5.00 per month. I purchase 11 months at 5.00 per month that is 55.00. Supposedly my first month is FREE. Although I just paid the company a whopping 55.00. Now this is what is really happening here.....

55.00 divided by 12 months of service = 4.58 a month is what the service costs per month.

This should tell consumers that the service has been overpriced by .42 each cents each month to offset the so called "FIRST MONTH FREE PITCH." Most economists would agree with me here.

So here it is and yes this is getting very old!!!!

The hosting companies that tell their customers that the FIRST MONTH IS FREE when they have to purchase an additional 11 months of service is telling the customers a LIE! It is dishonest and deceptive! You are only doing this to get more customers!:uhh:

Sorry, but your argument has absolutely no merit in comparison with offering "unlimited".

To say it is "Free" when it is not really free ---- A Selling method to appeal to the logic.

To say you offer "unlimited hosting" when there is no such thing as unlimited hosting ---- A selling method to appeal to the logic.

I dont understand how you do not see the connection????????????

I dont believe you have a clear understanding of our plans and how they work. You are welcome to go back and look at them again.

You are right. I do not have a clear understanding of your plans and how they work. I keep asking YOU, but you are not explaining anything yourself, have you noticed? :rolleyes2

Looking at this particular plan, can you please explain me please how you can deliver unlimited bandwidth?

I do not understand how you see the connection.

"Get 1 month free" is a legitimate marketing tactic, because it can be explained within legal scope of contract between buyer and seller.

The "unlimited" promise is a lie.

As long as the traffic is from website files and not file downloads from your account, the bandwidth is indeed unlimited. We do not allow file storage - zip, mp3, avi and so on as part of the unlimited bandwith.

Please be careful how you phrase things. The website clearly states "Get One Month Free". It doesn't say anywhere that it is the first month that is free.

You keep bringing this as example. Can you please point to at least few companies that give you 1st month free?

Artashes, he clearly doesn't get it and I don't believe he ever will. Obviously, we are just whipping a dead horse here...

I am sorry...........that is even a better example. Get ONE Month Free....I am laughing now and I mean no disrespect, but when do you get that FREE MONTH....see what I am talking about. These are selling points that is all.

Yes there are truely free offerings such as you giving me the 1,000 free impressions of my banner in hopes that I will continue with you on a paid plan. I am all for this. I will agree you truely offered a free item to me. P.S. Did you get my emails????

It's pretty simple.
If you pay by the month you pay a fixed amount.
If you pay by the year you pay an amount equivalent to 11 months. ie: 1 month free.

You are paying an amount that equates to 11 months payment.

That is in fact true.

Conversely, offering unlimited anything is a lie. Period.
There is no such thing as an unlimited hard drive. It doesn't exist.
There is no such thing as unlimited transfer. It doesn't exist.
Everything has limits.
It doesn't matter what restrictions you place on it. Offering unlimited is a lie.

If you were to offer unmetered within the same restrictions then it would not be a lie.

So when can I get my ONE FREE MONTH of hosting for a site that I am trying out?????

As soon as you sign up for a year of hosting.
I though I just explained that.

The free month will be amortized over the next 11 months.

Its okay, I will keep asking and maybe, just maybe, this will be the one good deed this year. I really need to cross it off my to-do list. :D

Question: If you are sitting on a source with unlimited bandwidth, why lose such a gift and limit other plan's monthly traffic allowances? Why not use this competitive advantage and offer unlimited bandwidth on all the plans of shared, VPS and dedicates product lines?

Notice BLUE stated the the FREE MONTH is AMORITIZED over 11 months. Now either he doesnt know the definition of AMORTIZATION or He agrees that he is lying to his customers. For the sake of those reading this thread I will now post a definition of the word AMORTIZATION.

amortization n. a periodic payment plan to pay a debt in which the interest and a portion of the principal is included in each payment by an established mathematical formula. Most commonly it is used on a real property loan or financing of an automobile or other purchase. By figuring the interest on the declining principal and the number of years of the loan, the monthly payments are averaged and determined. Since the main portion of the early payments is interest, the principal does not decline rapidly until the latter stages of the loan term. If the amortization leaves a principal balance at the close of the time for repayment, this final lump sum is called a "balloon" payment.

I would like to ask my friend how do you AMORTIZE something that is FREE? It doesnt cost anything so why does it have to be AMORTIZED?

You have a way of turning things into something they are not.

Blue said the following:

If you pay by the month you pay a fixed amount.
If you pay by the year you pay an amount equivalent to 11 months. ie: 1 month free.

You pay $monthly rate x 11, not 12. You are not carrying the cost of 12 months to get 1 free month. You are paying for 11 months and getting one extra.

Art,

I reposted exaxtly what BLUE said. He used the word AMORTIZED. How do you AMORTIZE something that is FREE????????????????

Look above that is what he said!

I will give him the benefit of the doubt perhaps he doesnt know the definition of the word AMORTIZE. This is why I posted it. I am not saying something that he did not say.

WHAT HE SAYS IS FREE IS NOT FREE!
