Dutch hosting provider mijn.host expands across Europe as data privacy concerns grow

A Dutch hosting company best known for staying small and independent just made its first real move outside the Netherlands, and the timing lines up with a shift happening across Europe’s data policy landscape.

Mijn.host launched an English-language version of its site this week under a new domain, my.host, opening its services to customers outside the Netherlands for the first time. The company built its reputation domestically on fast hosting, fair pricing, and a support team that actually answers questions, and says requests for English service had been piling up for years before this launch.

But there’s a bigger factor behind the timing than customer requests alone. Companies across Europe have grown noticeably more cautious about where their data physically sits and which country’s laws govern it. That caution has pushed demand for hosting providers that keep everything inside Europe, run independently, and don’t answer to a foreign parent company, which is exactly the pitch mijn.host is making with this expansion.

The new site carries the company’s full lineup: domain names, web hosting, WordPress hosting, VPS plans, dedicated servers, and email, all available in English with an English control panel and support team.

Existing Dutch customers won’t notice any difference. Their domain, mijn.host, isn’t changing, and their data stays stored exclusively in the Netherlands under the same team and pricing as before.

Looking ahead, the company says it’s building out infrastructure to offer multiple server locations across Europe, letting customers choose where their service physically runs. That would let businesses targeting international audiences pick a location closer to their visitors, while customers who want everything to stay in the Netherlands can keep it that way. Every new location will remain within Europe.

Mijn.host is also becoming a direct registrar in more European countries, already handling registrations directly with national registries including SIDN in the Netherlands, DNS Belgium, and Internetstiftelsen in Sweden, with more countries expected to follow.

The company has stayed independent while many competitors were bought up by larger international players in recent years, and it says that independence, along with its use of 100% renewable energy, will carry over into every new market it enters.
