AWS rolls out custom Intel Xeon 6 instances, signals fresh edge in cloud performance

Amazon Web Services has introduced R8i and R8i-flex instances powered by custom Intel Xeon 6 processors, marking a notable push for memory-intensive workloads. With DDR5 7200MT/s memory and up to 384 vCPUs, the new servers target databases, SAP HANA, and big data tools. While AWS offered few details on its Xeon tweaks, the move underscores how hyperscalers are leveraging custom silicon to sharpen performance — and Intel’s foothold in the cloud market.
