Fortinet combines six security operations tools into one cloud platform with built-in AI

Fortinet has introduced FortiSOC, a cloud-delivered security operations platform that brings six separate security functions together under one interface. The product combines security information and event management, orchestration, automation and response, threat intelligence, behavioral analysis, identity threat detection, and case management into a single subscription service, and it includes AI designed to investigate alerts and suggest response actions without requiring analysts to move between different tools.

The problem FortiSOC addresses is one that security teams across industries have been struggling with for years. Alert volumes keep rising, toolsets have grown fragmented across multiple vendors and consoles, and the pool of specialist security staff has not kept pace with demand. When an analyst has to manually correlate signals across five different dashboards before deciding how to respond, the time advantage shifts toward the attacker. Consolidating those functions into one platform is the direction much of the industry has been moving, and Fortinet is now pushing that logic further by embedding AI investigation directly into the workflow.

The AI component, called FortiAI-Assist, handles autonomous investigation, generates response playbooks, and coordinates actions across alerts, threat hunting, cases, and response within the same environment. The key distinction Fortinet draws is that human oversight remains part of the process for sensitive decisions, addressing the concern many organizations have about automation removing the checks they still need in place.

FortiSOC connects natively with Fortinet’s broader Security Fabric and includes third-party integrations, which matters for organizations that cannot replace their entire toolset at once. The detection methods, playbooks, and threat intelligence come from FortiGuard Labs and update continuously, giving teams a working baseline from day one rather than requiring months of configuration before the platform becomes useful.

Fortinet is not retiring its existing security operations products, including FortiAnalyser, FortiSIEM, and FortiSOAR. FortiSOC sits alongside them as a unified cloud option for customers who want a single software service model rather than a collection of separate tools.

Michelle Abraham of IDC noted that organizations are increasingly focusing on analyst workflow and investigation experience as they look to improve visibility and accelerate response, and that FortiSOC fits directly into that trend.

For security teams trying to do more with limited staff, the consolidation argument is straightforward. Whether the platform delivers the depth of specialist tools in practice will be the real test.
