Digital Realty has decided to team up with HPE to manage its massive data center operations more efficiently. Spanning more than 300 sites in 25 countries, the company is turning to HPE’s Private Cloud Business Edition to keep pace with rising data demands while gaining better control over its infrastructure, security, and day-to-day performance.
Rather than chasing the hype of public cloud solutions, Digital Realty is leaning into a model that offers more predictability and internal oversight. The goal is to simplify the management of its massive environment while keeping the cost of ownership stable.
Faramarz Mahdavi, who oversees IT infrastructure and operations at Digital Realty, highlighted how critical it is to have a platform that keeps up with fast-changing customer demands. He shared that HPE’s solution gives the company the flexibility to scale without losing sight of what matters—staying reliable and keeping everything transparent.
Although Digital Realty hasn’t confirmed if it’s hosting this private cloud deployment internally, signs point to a deeper collaboration with HPE than in years past. Back in 2020, the two companies partnered to run HPE’s GreenLake platform inside a data center in Ireland, owned by Interxion, a Digital Realty brand. That partnership has quietly expanded since.
Today, the company is incorporating HPE’s Alletra Storage MP B10000, a hardware line built to handle large volumes of mission-critical data. The choice aligns with Digital Realty’s strategy of supporting hybrid workloads across its growing network of global customers.
Cheri Williams, who leads HPE’s private cloud and flex solutions, acknowledged that Digital Realty’s decision reflects a strong vote of confidence. Their continued collaboration shows how infrastructure providers are responding to increasing pressure to deliver both agility and long-term sustainability.
As more companies take a fresh look at their cloud strategies, this shift says a lot. Organizations are starting to see the value in keeping more control over their infrastructure instead of handing everything off. For Digital Realty, the message is simple: work smarter, grow faster, and never lose grip on what matters most.
