The successful migration is even more impressive given the extreme environments where Gold Fields operates—such as mines 4 kilometers underground in South Africa and at 5,000 meters above sea level in Chile’s Atacama Desert.
Additionally, the integration of AWS’s Industrial Data Fabric and generative AI will revolutionize how Gold Fields manages safety and processes. These technologies will enable predictive maintenance, improving efficiency and reducing risks. Amazon’s Project Kuiper, a low-Earth orbit satellite solution, will also ensure reliable connectivity in remote locations, further enhancing operational efficiency.
