Google Chrome OS relies on web applications

A recent demo of Google Chrome Operating System has provided an inside look into the structure and functionality of the new OS. Google clearly makes its bet on the Web as core working platform, providing an OS that takes its users from boot up to a connected Internet state in just seconds, with all data being stored in the cloud. Hence, Google OS run netbooks will not have traditional hard disks (it will, however, run on solid-state disks). The operating system will only run web-based applications (Docs, Calendars, Email, etc) so users of applications such as Adobe Photoshop will have to use an alternative program such as Google’s Picasa. Since the demo, many bloggers have not been very optimistic about Chrome OS since they are not sure the world is ready for an OS that relies mostly on its online capabilities.
