Pulsant bets on HPE and two UK firms to tame IT supplier sprawl

UK data centre operator Pulsant has added three names to its partner network: HPE, HA Managed Hosting and Extraordinary Data Cloud. The move targets a common headache for IT buyers.

For example, a company running private or hybrid cloud often buys hardware, storage, connectivity and hosting from separate suppliers. Each supplier brings its own contract and support line, so the paperwork piles up long before anything goes live. Pulsant’s Ecosystem programme tries to fix that. Instead of chasing providers one by one, customers reach those services through a single network.

HPE covers the hardware side, including processing power, storage and networking. It also supplies hybrid cloud tools and equipment for AI workloads. As a result, customers gain a route to sovereign setups, where data stays under a country’s own rules, and to systems that run AI.

The other two additions come from closer to home. HA Managed Hosting provides managed web hosting in the UK, while Extraordinary Data Cloud runs cloud storage out of Edinburgh. Together, they bring experience in resilience, object storage, data sovereignty and managed infrastructure. Pulsant says that work complements its own core services. In other words, the newcomers fill gaps instead of replacing anything Pulsant already does.

Since its launch in April 2024, the programme has grown to more than 30 partners across connectivity, cloud and technology. Names on the list already include fibre operator Zayo Europe, Megaport, the London Internet Exchange (LINX) and managed IT provider Specialist Computer Centres (SCC).

The mix still deserves a second look. A global hardware maker now sits beside a hosting firm and an Edinburgh storage specialist, so Pulsant appears to court customers with very different needs. That range matters, because a small hosting customer and a company planning AI projects rarely want the same thing.

However, a tidy partner list does not remove the work of choosing and connecting services. Someone still has to sort out contracts, support and integration. Procurement teams will therefore judge the arrangement by how much of that work actually disappears. Until then, whether one door really replaces several stays an open question.
