CloudFest Americas has announced a panel called “The Data Center Story We’re Not Telling” for its Miami event on November 11 and 12, 2026. The session takes on a problem the infrastructure industry knows well: data centers are more visible and more scrutinized than ever, yet few people outside the sector understand what they do.
Public debate about digital infrastructure now centers on AI, power use, water consumption and environmental concerns. However, the same facilities also support commerce, communications, healthcare, education, government services and the wider digital economy. Organizers argue that this broader role rarely gets explained, so the industry faces a growing challenge in describing its place in society.
To address that gap, the panel will pose three questions. First, how should infrastructure providers engage with policymakers, local communities and the public? Second, which narratives actually resonate with those audiences? Finally, how can the industry better communicate the value of the systems behind modern digital life?
The speaker lineup mixes operators with a communications specialist. Taylor Henry, vice president of sales at Limestone Networks, joins Nick Nelson, senior director of systems innovation at DataBank. Judd Lindvall, head of cloud and AI infrastructure at Core 4 Solutions and Charg Cloud, will also take part, along with William Bell, executive vice president of products at phoenixNAP. Ilissa Miller, chief executive of iMiller Public Relations, rounds out the group.
That pairing looks intentional. Operators can explain what happens inside a facility, while a public relations leader can speak to how messages land with communities and officials. Consequently, the conversation may focus less on technology and more on trust, which has become a practical concern for any provider hoping to build or expand a site.
For hosting companies, colocation providers and cloud operators, the topic carries real business weight. Local opposition and regulatory attention can slow projects, and clear public communication can help ease that friction. Whether the panel produces concrete advice or general reflection will only become clear on the day.
