Dataweavers, the enterprise platform operations company behind Arc, and Sitecore have widened Arc’s sovereign cloud hosting model for SitecoreAI to new regulated markets, including China, the Middle East and Canada. As a result, global enterprises gain an in-country hosting option aimed at local data residency rules, and they can keep their existing platform investment instead of rebuilding it.
The reasoning is simple. Regulated markets increasingly demand that transactional and personal data stay inside the country, and in some regions, a usable experience also depends on serving content locally. To address that, Arc by Dataweavers runs inside the customer’s own Azure tenant on region-specific infrastructure. Moreover, the service bundles self-service Next.js hosting, built-in governance and enterprise-grade security under a single Arc service level agreement.
China presents the toughest case. For markets with the strictest requirements, Arc is designed to support in-country hosting of the front-end compute, data and delivery layer, although that remains subject to local rules. In addition, the companies caution that availability of specific SitecoreAI capabilities may vary by market. AI-powered features that rely on third-party services, for instance, are the clearest example.
Darren Paterson, president of Asia Pacific and Japan at Sitecore, said enterprises face an increasingly complicated map of residency and compliance requirements. According to Paterson, Dataweavers built a hosting model that helps customers extend SitecoreAI experiences into new regulated markets. Furthermore, he called it the kind of partner engineering that supports Sitecore’s most complex customers wherever they operate.
Owen Brandt, chief revenue officer at Dataweavers, described data residency as a trend appearing everywhere, so infrastructure has to stay closer to home. He argued that organizations need a platform strategy that travels with them rather than one they rebuild each time they enter a region. Consequently, closing that gap market by market is what Arc exists to do, in his view.
This move builds on an existing alliance between the two companies. Earlier, Arc became commercially available directly through Sitecore, and Dataweavers recently expanded into the EMEA market. Meanwhile, organizations weighing a SitecoreAI deployment in a regulated market can contact either Sitecore or Dataweavers directly.
