Melbicom opened its Marseille location for orders on October 12, and the city choice says more than the product list does. Marseille sits where several major subsea cables come ashore, so traffic heading between Europe, Africa, the Middle East and Asia often passes through it.
TeleGeography’s July 2026 analysis ranks Marseille sixth worldwide for international internet capacity, with more than 100 Tbps crossing borders. Cable systems landing there include AAE-1, SEA-ME-WE 4 and PEACE. The city also hosts France-IX Marseille, which reports over 120 connected networks, plus DE-CIX Marseille. Networks that peer at these exchanges can trade traffic directly, which can trim transit costs and shave latency.
The new site offers dedicated servers with ports up to 100 Gbps, Cloud VPS, custom hardware and a new point of presence for Melbicom’s Premium and Volume CDN networks. Custom builds allow AMD or Intel processors, NVMe storage and optional GPUs. Customers on dedicated or custom plans can also use BGP and bring their own IP space, which helps anyone who wants control over routing.
Network design adds another detail. Marseille connects to Melbicom’s Frankfurt and Singapore locations through its own backbone, so traffic between those sites stays on the company’s network instead of crossing third-party carriers. For a business serving Southern Europe, North Africa and the Middle East, that links a Mediterranean node to both Europe and Asia.
The CDN point of presence suits video platforms, software distributors and anyone shipping large files, since cached content sits closer to regional viewers while the origin servers stay elsewhere. Latency-sensitive work such as fintech apps and APIs can also use the backbone without moving primary data stores.
Compliance forms the third pillar. Marseille gives teams with French or EU data-residency requirements another place to host regional workloads, and the area’s ecosystem supports private connections to cloud platforms for hybrid setups and disaster recovery plans.
Prospective buyers should still do some homework. Melbicom’s announcement describes performance in general terms and publishes no latency figures, so tests from a real workload will tell you more than the marketing. Dedicated servers and Cloud VPS can be ordered now, and the CDN point of presence is live. Custom hardware requests go through the company with specs, expected traffic and a preferred date.
