InMotion deploys runtime security across its servers

A firewall checks what a request looks like on the way in. It doesn’t always catch what that request actually intends to do once it lands. That gap is why InMotion Hosting just deployed Monarx’s ThreatShield across its entire server fleet, extending a security partnership that goes back to 2021.

Most traditional defenses inspect traffic before it reaches an application, comparing it against known attack signatures. ThreatShield takes a different route. It sits inside the application runtime, watching what code actually executes instead of just judging a request by appearance. That distinction matters because plenty of attacks look harmless at first glance and only show their intent once they start running, things like SQL injection, cross-site scripting, credential stuffing, and remote code execution attempts.

InMotion‘s relationship with Monarx isn’t new. The hosting company reported a 40% drop in security-related support tickets during their first year working together, and Monarx has since become central to how InMotion catches malware, phishing, and abuse across its platform. Rolling out ThreatShield fleet-wide pushes that further: instead of leaving security configuration to individual website owners, InMotion is building it into the infrastructure itself.

“Deploying ThreatShield across our fleet is another step toward making advanced protection an integral part of the infrastructure our customers rely on every day,” said Trey Faison, InMotion’s Director of Products. Monarx described the expansion as a natural next step, since bringing protection into the runtime layer gives InMotion another way to catch attacks before they turn into breaches.

The move fits a broader shift in hosting security. Attack techniques change faster than signature-based defenses can track, and by the time a firewall rule exists for a new exploit, it may have already caused real damage. ThreatShield’s behavior-based approach targets exactly that timing problem, watching what code does instead of matching it against a known list.

For InMotion, the goal hasn’t shifted since 2021: catch problems early, without piling more manual work onto the team.
