Two Nigerian hosts crack HostAdvice’s Top 25 WordPress providers

Two Nigerian hosting companies just landed on a list dominated almost entirely by established global brands, a sign that Africa’s tech infrastructure sector is starting to punch well above its weight.

HostAdvice, the global web hosting review platform used widely by developers and businesses researching hosting providers, named both HoganHost and HarmonWeb among its Top 25 WordPress Hosting Providers worldwide. The platform evaluates companies based on performance, reliability, customer support, pricing, and overall user experience, factors that carry real weight for anyone deciding where to actually host a production website.

For HoganHost specifically, this ranking builds on a run of momentum the company has been having lately. It recently acquired ZUUM Host and picked up nine international domain accreditations, expanding its ability to offer domain registration across multiple markets beyond Nigeria. It also won Web Hosting Company of the Year in the People’s Choice category at the 6th Eko Heritage Awards, a local recognition that reflects growing trust from Nigerian customers even before this latest global nod arrived.

HarmonWeb’s appearance on the same list matters just as much, since having two Nigerian hosts in a global top 25 isn’t something that happens by accident. It points to a broader shift happening across the region’s tech sector, where reliability and uptime, the kind of unglamorous metrics that actually determine whether a hosting provider is any good, are increasingly competitive with what larger international players offer.

HoganHost’s services span web hosting, cloud infrastructure, domain registration, enterprise email, and website security, serving everyone from individual developers to startups and public sector organizations. The company says it plans to keep investing in infrastructure as demand for digital services across Africa continues to grow.

For Nigerian tech companies more broadly, rankings like this one carry weight beyond just bragging rights. They signal to potential customers, both locally and internationally, that African hosting providers can genuinely compete on the same technical footing as brands with far larger budgets and longer track records, something that matters as more businesses across the continent look for hosting partners closer to home.
