Automation platforms usually come with a catch: pay per workflow execution, and costs climb fast once a business scales up its usage. Domains.co.za is betting South African businesses want a way around that, launching Self-Hosted n8n VPS Hosting, a locally hosted virtual private server with the open-source automation tool n8n already installed.
The product targets developers, IT teams, digital agencies, and businesses looking to build automated workflows, connect different applications, and run AI-powered processes on dedicated infrastructure hosted inside South Africa. That last part matters more than it might initially sound. Instead of paying per task or execution the way most SaaS automation platforms do, customers get unlimited workflow execution for a flat monthly price, along with full control over how their automation environment actually runs.
Wayne Diamond, founder and CEO of Domains.co.za, framed the launch around a fairly simple frustration: automation is supposed to make businesses more efficient, not saddle them with unpredictable costs or hand data control over to a third party. He described the self-hosted approach as giving businesses a way to automate without hitting workflow caps, while keeping tighter control over their own data.
In practice, that means businesses can use the platform to automate repetitive administrative work, sync data between different applications, build customer service workflows, or plug AI services directly into existing processes, all without routing sensitive data through an external cloud provider. For companies dealing with data residency requirements or trying to stay aligned with POPIA, South Africa’s data protection law, hosting everything locally adds a layer of compliance that global SaaS platforms often can’t offer as cleanly.
The infrastructure itself runs on dedicated VPS hardware hosted at Teraco, described as Africa’s largest N+1 data center, and comes with NVMe storage, one-click deployment, free backups, and local technical support, all backed by a 99.9% uptime guarantee. Domains.co.za offers four plans to fit different scales of automation need, each including dedicated compute resources, API integrations, and queue mode to keep high-volume workflows running smoothly under load.
Diamond positioned the launch as part of a broader push toward giving South African businesses locally hosted infrastructure options, allowing them to adopt automation and AI tools without sacrificing control over their performance, security, or long-term costs.
