Lagos hosting firm HoganHost wins Web Hosting Company of the Year

HoganHost picked up one of those wins that actually means something in this industry: not a trophy handed out by a panel of judges somewhere, but one decided by the people who log into the dashboard every day.

The Lagos-based cloud infrastructure company took home Web Hosting Company of the Year in the People’s Choice category at the 6th Eko Heritage Awards, held Saturday evening at the Lagos Oriental Hotel in Victoria Island. The ceremony spans business, technology, and the creative industries broadly, and HoganHost beat out two other hosting providers, QServers and Harmon Web, in a category where customer votes, not an internal jury, decide the winner.

CEO Joseph Hogan accepted the award and, in a statement released the next day, put the credit squarely on the company’s customers, partners, and staff. What stood out in his comments wasn’t the usual thank-you script. He talked about every hosted site and registered domain as evidence of an actual relationship, something built over time rather than a one-off transaction, and framed the vote itself as proof that customers had noticed.

Hogan didn’t stop at the win, though. He used the moment to lay out where he wants HoganHost headed next: Africa’s leading web hosting and cloud infrastructure provider, full stop. That’s a big claim for a company still building out its footprint, but a few recent moves suggest it isn’t just talk. HoganHost recently acquired ZuumHost, an established Nigerian host and accredited .ng domain registrar, though it’s keeping ZuumHost running as its own brand rather than folding it in, a choice clearly meant to protect the customer relationships ZuumHost had already built.

The acquisition fits a pattern. HoganHost describes its longer-term plan as building a multi-brand digital infrastructure group across the continent, and it recently picked up nine new international domain accreditations, letting it register domains locally in markets well beyond Nigeria.

Joseph Hogan and Atim Hogan started the company with a focus on web hosting, cloud hosting, dedicated servers, domain registration, and broader infrastructure services for businesses and developers. Looking ahead, HoganHost says it intends to keep channeling investment into cloud infrastructure, cybersecurity, and automation, a bet that Africa’s digital economy will keep demanding exactly that kind of foundation in the years to come.
