managed hosting

There are many hosting companies provide managed hosting including fully managed hosting package or others. If you have such experience, could you share your experience on it?

Can you please elaborate your question, because I am not sure if you are asking us something or telling us.

I think the OP is just spamming to post count

There are many hosting companies provide managed hosting including fully managed hosting package or others.

does this not count for 100% of all shared, reseller and master reseller hosting as all these are managed services

At the OP, what is the point of your post?

It looks like the only purpose of the thread is to open a thread and to see a signature displayed within the forums. For any reason folks who sign to offer Managed Hosting think that it is a good idea to ask questions like this: "There are many hosting companies provide managed hosting including fully managed hosting package or others. If you have such experience, could you share your experience on it?"

However it only says to the consumers that the one dos not have an idea what they are talking about.

PS: I do not mean disrespect to the HD member, but this is not the way to build a good membership history.

I have to agree with this. also it looks like the OP is offered managed services, but what others to really explain how do you run such services. as i stated earlier any hosting upto a VPS will be managed services.

Hello. I did not mean to abandon this thread, sorry for that.

My intention was to get some insight into the experiences people have had with Managed hosting services. The idea of Managed hosting can vary from person to person. Some consider managed hosting to mean that they have access to a control panel, some think it specifically means cPanel, others find that they must have automated software installation like wordpress, drupal, ect. while others are happy with just a web interface to file management so they don't have to mess with FTP.

I had hoped to get some industry sharing on this topic since this community includes both customers and providers of managed hosting.

🙂

well in my eyes and i would say in most peoples eyes is if you have a shared hosting or a reseller hosting plan then these will be managed ( as in the server your plans are on are managed by your host).
If you have a VPS or Dedicated server then these can be unmanaged or semi managed ( meaning that you will be provided with the server, but it is up to you to make the server secure and install any software etc. If these are managed then you can ask your provider to install software and secure your server etc.

All our servers are managed servers, but we will secure the servers ourselves and install software etc that we need, but to have the servers managed gives us the added help of techs if we need them.

My take on managed hosting is that if you are going to be paying extra for it to be managed, it should be engineered to your exact specifications and cared for. It's a simple concept but many people just go straight for the specs and price and just glance at an SLA or what they're actually getting.

Most companies engineer a setup and a plan to fix it when you experience problems and downtime instead of having experienced engineers create a failproof setup. It also helps to have the engineer who built your operation to maintain and service it so they know it inside and out. Many companies have engineers build an operation and a support staff to fix it.

Also, depending on the design, if a component of a server fails it wont result in service outage. Those are just the first things that come to mind when I think of managed hosting. Hopefully this can help someone with things you might not typically think of when assessing managed hosting or any other types of hosting you might be looking into.

Since you're the one selling the product, you should explain to clients what your "managed hosting" mean. As easyhostmedia said, managed servers are usually for VPS hostings and above. Managed hosting on the other hand means that you have the sole access to their control panel or CMS, FTP, etc. and they have to go through you to actually do related tasks. PS: this is NOT common or ideal service at all.

Giving the client cPanel account, web file manager account and CMSs like WP and drupal cannot be called as "managed hosting". Clarify that with your clients.

Many hosts, and apparently the OP, call "normal" hosting "managed" because there is a control panel. I suppose that is technically ok. But its just another marketing gimmick to smuggle in the value of managed hosting as it applies to dedicated servers to shared hosting, which has always been managed, by definition.

That is my experience.

I don't think that you can call 'managed' plan which has only control panel. And customers mostly understand it
