What marketing strategy do you use to resell hosting plans?

A good many of our customers come from word of mouth. So we must be doing something right.

We get above 90% of signups for recommendation of our customers, so good support to existing customers ,uptime and performance is something that helps us grow.

Word of mouth is always one of the best ways to get new customers. Marketing offline also works, approaching businesses/users who may need services you offer.

Mouth publicity as well as killing offers like 90% discount on first invoice with terms *Maximum 2 year prepayment applies. New purchases only. ;)

There will be competition everywhere in the world now, also every industry. You need to market your product with great innovation. You need to set a mark on your offerings with reasonable price tag. There is no reason for not being able to survive in this field. You should take long term marketing policy.

how do you manage to reseller hosting when there's so much competition out there..?
Based in my experience, forum ads and social media are a good way to focus when it comes to selling online.

You mostly need to build value into what you are selling. Most anyone can go online and start a web hosting company because it has become so easy to do so with the cost of servers having gone down in price and other options available to us.

I'm not the cheapest out there, but neither am I the most expensive. I mainly base my plans on the amount of space I have on my servers in comparison to how I can divide that into "apartments" for clients. I base it on what I know on average each website typically uses in space. Much like an apartment building, you know how many apartments you can put into your building depending on the size of the apartments.

I agree, just need to look on eBay and you see many unlimited everything reseller plans $2 to $5 a year, these may sell, but wont give any support or the host has no value to their service or time, so when anything goes wrong they just pack up and do a runner. You will see these increase when school summer holidays start and then decrease when the holidays are over.

They simply buy a master reseller plan and then list on eBay having no idea what they are doing

I've seen those sort of offerings and I don't trust them. One reason is that they are obviously over selling. And I mean way over selling. Which means your website will be slow and bandwidth on such a network will be horrible.

Just recently I was in the store looking for a magnifying glass. I found a good size one for only a dollar. But when I looked at it, it was very poorly made so I didn't buy it. I was in another store sometime after that and found one for five dollars. It had a light on it and was very well made. I bought the one for 5 dollars.

In my experience with cheap, that's exactly what it is - c h e a p. It is flawed in many ways. Things that cost more and worth their dollar amount hold more value and give you more satisfaction.

Local advertising and word of mouth is the best way. After you gain 100 or so clients, with good service, you can get them to refer you to friends :).

Also, have a subscription list so you can post them fresh new offers to remind them of your web host ! It helps a lot ( But not too often or they would get mad :( )

i already know this, but thank you for reminding it

is there another new methode now?

From the start of marketing mouth to mouth marketing. Start from the local area, give some discounts. Once you will acquire the market then you will automatically get customers as you have already have the best position in the market.

Think about it more broadly. A lot of people today require web hosting and they are all around you. Before anything else, pick a target market, a segment, then find ways to reach them. There is a variety of media outlets: from print to online, from local businesses to specialty professional events.

To expand on this, a bit of advice we give to our partners: specialise!

If you can offer a something to a niche market, you can use very precise targeting and make use of the data that companies like F***book hold.

For example, you could target photographers (or even more specific, such as wildlife photographers in your local area), and make your ads very photography-focused and word your landing page as "web hosting for photographers".

That way, you can get higher click-through rates at lower prices - increasing your ROI. :D

This is very true. Reaching out to places like real estate offices might be beneficial because a lot of those places typically will use the same person for everything throughout the whole office. Other businesses that might be worth exploring are machine shops in the area since a lot of them are in the same business center.

For me, i think the best is having an affiliates prgram so people can start with and them promoting resseling to them. 24/7 presale support is definatly worth it too

We got most of our business from Affiliates, Word of Mouth and Organic traffic, we hardly spend any money on advertising , though yes we do posts in forums etc...

marketing strategy do you use to resell hosting plans

A per our experience, 1st & for most your server/reseller hosting should be fast, secure & maximum uptime server, so that your clients do not face any difficulties in using your reseller hosting & if you can maintain this strategy for long term, this will definitely increase your hosting value & goodwill & will earn more customers & ofcourse you will get more customers as much as you will do all online/digital marketing.

One very nice way to get clients is the local meetups. If you are not lazy then find out when and where the startup or local business meetup will take place. Dress up well for the meetups with some of your business cards and present them precisely with what you offer and what you can do for them. It works.
