Worst hosting ever - Host1Plus.com

Hi all,

I just have to share this with everybody and hopefully nobody else has to suffer this insanity of host1plus.com.

First of all on the website you can see they pretend to HAVE a data centre in the US. Well I choose them as hosting because they have multiple servers all over the world and I was planning to mirror my website on those different servers for better service to my customers.

Since I've been with them the hosting went from average to worse.. A lot of smaller periods of downtime, very slow Mysql etc.. Then last week 10 hours of 'down time'. Server wasn't really offline but refused to serve any php pages. This took them just over 10 hours to fix. Then following week again a lot of smaller down time periods and slow and unstable Mysql server.

Now my website has been offline for MORE then 48 hours, I have been complaining from the first hour my website went offline and they kept telling me (until like 10 hours ago) yeah we will have it fixed in few hours.

Now they came with this explanation:
'Due some circumstances we have faced total network failure in the US DC. Our server is completely disconnected and datacenter refused to provide backup data. We are still negotiating with DC to get all data backup'

Which leads me to believe 2 things:
- they don't have a data centre in the US AT ALL. They just outsource and have access to some servers
- They didn't pay fees or something similar and now the owner of the data centre has taken all data on the server hostage until they pay.

I really need access to my database. I'm loosing income every hour and more important loosing customers and possibly my nr 1 spot in Google search on my keywords.

I have no idea what I can do.. if anybody has tips for me I highly appreciate them.

And an maybe a bit obvious but NEVER EVER put your website on host1plus.com hosting.

Best regards,

Data hostage - Hosting malpractice

Hello all,

I'm currently hosted at Host1Plus.com. Do a to me an unknown reason my website has been down for the last 48 hours, as whole the server they have in US has been offline. Now I'm loosing money every day because of this and worse I'm loosing customers because of this (customer is much more worth then just a sale of course).

They state it is a 'network issue' but in their explanation they state:
'Due some circumstances we have faced total network failure in the US DC. Our server is completely disconnected and datacenter refused to provide backup data. We are still negotiating with DC to get all data backup'

Which leads me to believe they outsourced the server in a data centre (they always claimed to HAVE a datacentre in the US) and they just did not pay their fees and now this data centre is taking all data hostage.

I REALLY need the data from my database. What can I do legally to force them to do all it takes to get me my data? And as second question how far can I go for demanding compensation of missed income?

Thank you very much.
Steven

oh, this is very bad hosting!

They offer unlimited plan - This is bad - nothing is unlimited
Unlimited webhostings (Hostgator, dreamhost, etc) offer unlimited, but They services do not good..

You are pretty much out of luck. You have real recourse on the database or on the financial compensation.

Might I suggest that if you are losing money because of this downtime you should research hosting a little better.

Trusting a host that offers unlimited bandwidth and disk space is a mistake at any price let alone $1.95 a month.

Sometimes you get what you pay for and sometimes you end up paying a whole lot more.

Sorry to hear about your predicament. You should do your own research before hosting with any host. Some host are just fly-by-night hosts. I hope everythings workout for you.

Sorry to hear of your problems, however this is a good case for doing your homework before picking a host.
Better luck next time

I wouldn't trust any web host who offers unlimited disk space/bandwidth. Good luck and if you have any more question feel friend to ask.

From how long are you hosting with Host1Plus, if this is your first bad experience, its too disgusting. If you had the same experience before also, this is you fault that you never though of switching the web host.

When you deal with the networks, you never know what will go wrong with it at any instance, the main thing is the genuineness in the problem, if the web host is bluffing you, they are as good as criminals, and if is a genuine problem you should try to help out each other

I have never even heard of this Host1Plus website before reading this thread, and now...I am quite happy about that. There seem to be a lot of less than reputable webhosts out there, so thank you for sharing this one with us, so that we can avoid it.

I wouldn't trust any web host who offers unlimited disk space/bandwidth.

Same here! Any web host who makes claims that they obviously can't back up, is in no position to be trusted for anything else either.

yes I agree with Ceasar if it offers unlimited plan you must think twice before getting their service. They may provide good service at first but as the days goes by you will experience the worst.

People do understand what unlimited is and they do understand that is something what does not exist. And then as result we start getting bad reviews

Sorry to hear about your problems. But did you just come to this forum to complain or have you done research about your host before?

I have to agree with Blue on this. If your business is of any value to you, do NOT skimp on hosting, and always have a disaster recovery plan - do remote backups.

I'm sorry to hear about your poor experience with this web hosting company. I hope the next web hosting provider you select will be able to meet your needs much more effective then they did. Thank you for your the review and best of luck!

Unfortunately it's a case of....you pay peanuts, you get monkeys. :(

This is in hindsight now of course, but always take backups whatever host you are with unless they give cast iron guarantees that they're going to do it for you. (Which is extremely rare!)

Even before the page fully loaded and I could see the "Unlimited Bandwidth" I believed you :( Here's a lesson never to go with unlimited/oversold hosting again.

Honestly their site looks good and very professional. But the business model behind such offerings is in no way viable except you willingly want to incur losses for one reason or another. Unfortunately customers have to find out the hard way over and over again.

Just a quick add-on: As I examined their site I came across their twitter account and saw they were following only one person whose twitter account was unavailable with this message: "Sorry, the account you were headed to has been suspended due to strange activity."
