Hello Guys,

My site got hacked today. It is hosted at ************.com. First they don’t even feel to inform me about it. And then when I contacted them they told me to open a ticket for it. But did not took any actions on their end. When I opened a ticket for it, they did not responded to it for more than 2 hrs. very very very bad support. Worst experience ever.
I am searching for new host where I am guaranteed security for my website.

I'm confused. Have they responded to your ticket? What was their explanation?

I'm kinda confused.

- How would the host know your website got hacked?
- It's only been 2 hours, perhaps they are busy?

Well I am now confused at your comments????

Dont these hosting providers know that they have got a security breach in there servers......they should be having some mechanism for these???Meaning they will not even know if someone has hacked their server.....

And by the way, these guys have still not responded to the case....Can u believe that.....it is over 3 hrs now....

I guess, sites gettin hacked at ************.com is a normal issue

IX isn't the best at responding to tickets, and yes, they have had sites hacked before. But in saying that, many sites get hacked with no way a host would normally know. Security patches may not be updated for client-side script being run on sites - plus any number of reasons not related to the host directly.

2 hours is not all that terrible. What is terrible though is the fact that it's now been apparently more than half a year since hacking issues continue on their platform. I've read such reports on various forums for a while now.

And I remember the same on some threads that went on for pages on end about their network. Their recent history regarding hacking is certainly less than good.

I am sorry but I cannot fully agree. Imagine being in a state of panic calling and letting your host know that you have been hacked. It doesn't happen every day, so I don't know why a host wouldn't pay a little closer attention to that user.

ssluser, this might not be your hosting provider's fault. If you run a third-party application that is either not secure or updated, hackers can break into them. Happened to me at least twice before on another very old site. I ran a very basic forum application (I think it was xmb forums) that was very weak (what can I do - it came with Fantastico 1-click installation thingy...) and it was hacked at least twice in my memory, so I had to update to phpBB later on. This was not my host's fault though.

Anyway, please let us know when your issue is resolved. I really hope its soon and wish you good luck in restoring the site.

It's all relative I guess. 2 hours doesn't seem all that bad when you often read stories of tickets going unanswered for days or even closed without a reply. :)

A synopsis of the IX hacking situation is presented here: http://ixwebhostwarning.wordpress.com/

There used to be a huge thread at WHT about this, but it was lost in their own (unrelated) hacking issue, and I don't know if we'll ever get it back http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?t=734383.

Yes, it may very well be that the OP has an unrelated incident too.

Sucks to hear that, but the host is not to blame here. If you are using a third party script that is not updated expect to get hacked. A host can only do so much to protect you but if your not gunna update your stuff, well then, there is no point really in complaining.

Ok, I have a problem with this..
The OP is saying "Worst host ever".. Not only do we not know if it was a insecure 3rd party program, we can't say for sure that the OP didn't simply give his password to someone unintentionally. What if he used the same password as over at WHT..?? I'm not saying that's what happened, but it's possible, and there's sooo many possibilities here. Whether IX is at fault cannot yet be determined. Never the less, a topic with a title such as this one could certainly lose business(not much) for IX, even if the OP's password was "changeme"..

Imagine if I said "Ecitiusssl scammed me, I purchased a SSL from them and it won't work.".. When in reality I mistyped the domain for my SSL.

IX could very well be at fault here, but IMO there should be some type of rules/standards for posts like this. I'm not saying this is the case, but we've all had customers who jump to conclusions and assume the worst..

************.com does respond to my case and you know in how much time...........More than 7 hrs later I posted the ticket. Simply Amazing.

I know that there can be many reasons for the hack but they have not given me any reports, cause or logs not even the exact time when this hack was done.

I agree with you that it can be my fault but there has to be reports stating that. It has now been over 15 hrs and I have not received any reports or logs from them........atleast they should have the reports stating that it is my fault.

Also one more point.....if your site gets hacked dont you think that your hosting provider should inform you about this. I came to know about hacking incident when I browsed my site.....and then I posted my case. So clearly speaking I dont even know for how long my site was down...
These shows how much ************ cares about there clients security.

Any comments on this,....

I don't agree with the delay/lack of response from IX.
How would they know if you got hacked? Brute force is one thing, exploiting a hole in a 3rd party software or gaining your password and simply logging in is completely different.

So, hosting providers will not know if my site or say any site on their server gets hacked. All the responsiblity is of the client and not of hosting providers. This is really scary stuff.

Dont they have any tool or software to know whether a site or say anything is hacked on their servers.

No. There is no such tool.
Certain attacks can show up but there is not a webhost in the world that is going to monitor every site on their servers for unauthorized changes.

Again, you really are not supplying any information.
What is the hack? Did someone change a page? Exploit a script? Are they sending emails from your account?

Untill now, all I only know is that they hacked my home page. I have uploaded it again from my backup. I am still checking with other files and database.

For the other points I dont know anything like my mails ids are being used etc..as I have no reports or logs from their end. They have only responded once to my case in 22 hrs since I submitted my case. Really, really gr8 support!

You might check the bottom of your Contact Us page - it's showing an error. I'm curious how long it'll take IX to respond to your ticket.
