Why only .com and .net

Yeah, I understand where you are coming from. A friend of mine who have several domains without websites developed for them also told me the same. I am glad currently I only have two registered domain names.

Some of my favorite domain registrars are Canvas Dreams (canvasdreams.com) and dotster (dotster.com) - great customer service, good prices, and are in the NW United States!

Well nope, we don't find $12 to $17 for a domain name very appealing at all! Surly less than $10 at the very least for a .com, .net or .org is really more in-line. In our opinion that is. (smile)

As far as I know, .com and .net have always been the most popular (though reading about .de domains don't surprise me somehow).

I know you can get cheaper domains if you change to a good site for this, but I always have reason to believe that .com and .net will always be higher than the rest. .org too maybe.

I used GoDaddy for my domain and only because they had a sale on another extension. I didn't research any others, but kind of wish that I did. Surely there are prices cheaper than $12+.

I just checked Go Daddy and in fact, .com and .net are not the most expensive TLD's. The registrar charges $29.99 a year for a .co domain, and $12.99 a year for a .ca domain.

Yes verisign is the firm managing entire .com/.net domains system. They are increasing rates bec ICANN is looking to put ICANN fee on these extensions
